From the back of the book:
The arrival of Elliott Wallace, the irresistibly eligible Viscount Lyngate, has thrown the country village of Throckbridge into a tizzy. Desperate to rescue her eldest sister from a loveless union, Vanessa Huxtable Dew offers herself instead. In need of a wife, Elliott takes the audacious widow up on her unconventional proposal while he pursues an urgent mission of his own. But a strange think happens on the way to the wedding night. Two strangers with absolutely nothing in common can’t keep their hands off each other. Now, as intrigue swirls around a past secret - one with a stunning connection to the Huxtables - Elliott and Vanessa are uncovering the glorious pleasures of the marriage bed…and discovering that when it comes to wedded bliss, love can’t be far behind.
This is the first book in a 4-book series about a family of three sisters and their brother. Vanessa Huxtable Dew is the middle sister, the plain sister, and the widow sister. Elliott comes across as controlling and a little too overbearing. He sets out to propose to Vanessa’s oldest sister as a way to make it easier to introduce the sisters to the ton. Vanessa offers herself instead, so that her sister can find true love. Elliott and Vanessa have chemistry, but it first doesn’t seem like a good kind of chemistry. They rub each other the wrong way. I liked that Elliott and Vanessa don’t automatically fall in love, they have to work at it.
The only problem I had with this book, was Con, the Huxtables 2nd cousin. I can’t quite figure out where he fits in the story. We are told he is a bad guy, but doesn’t defend or explain himself. There is never any concrete evidence of why he is bad, just what Elliott thinks. I hope that he is in other books and we can find out his true story.
I can’t wait to see what happens with the other sisters and their brother!

From the back of the book:
Navy SEAL Caleb Delaude is as deadly as he is charming. Professor Emmie Caddington’s quiet intelligence and quirky personality intrigue him. When he discovers that her personal connections can get him close to the man he’s vowed to kill, will their budding relationship be nothing more than a means to revenge…or is she the key to his salvation?
This book started on rocky ground for me. It took me a while to care about the characters and their agendas. Caleb “Do-Lord” Delaude started out a little too revengeful for me. Emmie seemed to place so little value on herself and hid out from life. These two didn’t seem compatible at all. Then I hit page 89 and couldn’t put the book down. These two definitely fit each other and the chemistry that they share is HOT! I think this book is more than just a romance. The book is about overcoming childhoods that were less than perfect and accepting who we are and how we got there. Caleb is overcoming a childhood without a father or a stable mother. He had to grow up too quickly. Emmie is dealing with a feeling of being abandoned by her missionary parents. I thought the book was wonderful, despite the rocky beginning, and can’t to read more by Mary Margret Daughtridge!

What - did you think all vamps were pale, thin, and brooding? Don’t I wish.
Me, I just happened to be bloating when a sexy Scotsman sank his teeth into me, so here I am, Glory St. Clair, eternally “full figured.” On the plus side, I can rock a corset like nobody’s business. Oh, and as for Angus Jeremiah Campbell 111, a.k.a Jeremy Blade? We’ve been on and off again for centuries, currently off. After a couple hundred years we sure know how to press each other’s buttons - in good ways and bad.
The whole never-aging thing means that a girl’s gotta keep moving, and I’m headed for Austin and a new business venture: Vintage Vamp’s Emporium. After all, I love cute clothes, and I am an antique. Only problem is, there’s a billionaire technofreak vampire hunter on the loose. Blade’s in total he-vampire mode and wants me to move in with him so he can ” protect” me. but I’m sick of the not-so-little-woman thing. It’s time for this vamp to explore her own powers…
Glory St. Clair is a hoot. She reminds me of MaryJanice Davidson’s Betsy, with a little less attitude and without the addiction to shoes. Blade is a mega-hot alpha male who wants to protect Glory from everything. This is the first book in the series and I was hooked from the very beginning. The vampires in Austen are being hunted by a vampire hunter and Bones wants Glory out of the way so that he can protect her. Glory wants to prove that she can make it on her own. With a cast of secondary characters this book is hilarious and a great beginning to a new series!

Subject: Damon Craig, Coast Guard lieutenant
Current Status: Always ready for action - of any kind!
Mission: Patrol his territory with vigilance. Arrest drug runners.
Obstacle: Lacey Sutherland. Irresistibly sexy. Potential smuggling suspect?
Damon is accustomed to being on the lookout for illegal activity on his watch, though it’s not every day he suspects a gorgeous woman. Still, when Lacey suddenly appears at the Puerto Rico bar Damon’s staked out, to meet a suspected smuggler, Damon’s guard is up.
Unfortunately, so is his libido - way up! Lacey is up to something, and Damon’s determined to uncover all her dark secrets. He’s also quite ready to uncover Lacey herself. One mysterious inch at a time…
I’m really liking the Uniformly Hot! series by Harlequin Blaze. These books are H-O-T and I’m a sucker for a book with a military hero. Damon is a hunky coast guard with a person reason to hunt down a suspected drug dealer. Lacey is a woman who is trying to save a floundering business. These two have nothing in common except for the electricity between them.I liked the exotic setting of this book and how well they two characters meshed together even though they were different.

Fast cars. Sizzling sex. This is her kind of race!
Cardin Worth is ready to tune up her engine - with Trey, her former crush! However, he’s a Davis - one of her car-racing family’s bitter rivals. But she might be able to create peace, and also get some sizzling sex on the side…
…if Trey pretends to be her fiance, that is!
Having a little fun on those steamy Southern nights seems like a great idea. Just to patch up the feud, of course. Then Trey’ll be leaving town again - this time for good.
But Cardin’s not sure she can relinquish the superheated sex…Because Trey’s the most talented, uh, mechanic to ever look under her hood!
This book is H-O-T!
First I just want to say that the cover is amazingly hot. Where can I find one of those, lol. Maybe I need to pay more attention to car racing! Next, this story is great. I loved the past history shared by the two main characters and how that figures into the present. The small town atmosphere and the family drama help the story along. It is much more than boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after. It is a quick read and a lot of fun!

She has nothing left to lose -
After finding herself at the center of a very public scandal that left one man dead and another on the run, Lady Alexandra Huntington has exiled herself to her brother’s estate and is content to manage his affairs. But the arrival of darkly handsome Collin Blackburn awakens her curiosity and her desire - and the advantage of being a fallen woman is that she can be ruined only one…
Except her heart…
After a promise sworn to his father, Collin Blackburn is compelled to seek the aid of the woman who brought about his brother’s death in a senseless duel. Yet Lady Alexandra is not the shameless femme fatale he expected. In fact, Collin suspects she is guilty of nothing more than a hunger to experience passion, and the brawny Scot is certainly equipped to oblige. But the quick-witted, keenly sensual Alexandra has a few lessons of her own to impart - on life, love, and the delicious joys of succumbing to temptation…
I love Victoria Dahl, everything she writes is a keeper. In TO TEMPT A SCOTSMAN Alexandra is a fallen woman who is spending her days taking care of her brother’s estate. She is determined to have a fulfilling and happy life despite the scandal. Collin is trying to find out the circumstances around his half brothers death. These two feel drawn to other, even though they don’t want to. I couldn’t put this book down. The chemistry between the characters was electric, I couldn’t wait to read what would happen next between them. As much as I loved Victoria Dahls contemporary, TALK ME DOWN, I hope there will be more historical romances too!

I think that almost everyone has read “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. Here is a trailer for the live action movie that will be in theaters October 2009!
From the back of the book:

UNFORGETTABLE

UNBELIEVABLE

AND COMPLETELY MIND-BLOWING!
For a corporate gal looking to shed her office shackles with the one man who can’t afford to get carried away…
This anthology was a quick and fun read. I loved the continuation from one story to the next with a little overlapping of characters/events. The first story is WEEKEND FLING by Vicki Lewis Thompson, one of my favorite writers. Her books always have a sense of fun to them and this story is no exception. Next is WEEKEND TIGRESS by Jade Lee. This was the first time I had read anything by Ms. Lee. The story made me want to read more by this author. I loved the emotion put into this novella. I could almost feel what the main characters were feeling. The last story is WEEKEND MELTDOWN by Anna DeStefano. I really liked this story too. I laughed out loud at the antics of the female characters best friend. This was a fun and steamy read, just perfect for a winter night.
