From the back of the book:
No man can resist Jemma’s sensuous allure…Except her own husband!
Wedding bells celebrating the arranged marriage between the lovely Duchess of Beaumont and her staid, imperturbable duke had scarcely fallen silent when a shocking discover sent Jemma running from the ducal mansion. For the next nine years she cavorted abroad, creating one delicious scandal after another (if one is to believe the rumors).
Elijah, Duke of Beaumont, did believe those rumors.
But the handsome duke needs an heir, so he summons his seductive wife home. Jemma laughs at Elijah’s cool eyes and icy heart – but to her secret shock, she doesn’t share his feelings. In fact, she wants the impossible; her husband’s heart at her fee.
But what manner of seduction will make a man fall desperately in love…with his own wife?
First off – this review may have a few spoilers if you haven’t read the other books in the Duchess series.
The one major part of this story that isn’t told on the back of the book is that the Duke’s ill. He has fainting spells caused by a problem with his heart. That is why he needs his heir. But, Jemma doesn’t know and wants a promise of love before coming to her husbands bed. I love these characters, but couldn’t see how there could possibly be a happy ending (don’t worry there is). Getting to the happy ending took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I was upset by the way the characters were reacting to their situations, even though there was really no other way they could have reacted. I loved this book and was very satisfied with the way their story ended (especially the epilogue). I can’t wait to read the Duke of Villiers book next – he’s one of my favorite characters!
the book girl gives THIS DUCHESS OF MINE 5/5!
