Sorry for the late posting. Today was holiday parties at the kids two schools and some last min. shopping for niece’s sleepover tonight.
Today’s Fabulous Friday is for DOUBLE THE HEAT anthology. Just leave a comment on this post to enter. This contest is going to run longer than the average. I won’t be posting anything until after Christmas, so I will just leave this contest open until Sunday 12/27 at 5pm cst.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!
About the book:
What could be more fun than a game between friends - or lovers? In these four sexy stories of mixed-up couples and mistaken identities, it’s not about winning but how much you like to play.
Includes a brand-new novella featuring Hart Winston, whose switch with his hot identical-twin brother has one woman calling foul play. You can bet that in the game of love no one is going to follow the rules…
From the back of the book:
Lavinia Spencer has been saving her hard-earned pennies to provide her family with Christmas dinner. Days before the holiday, her brother is swindled, leaving them owing more than they can ever repay. Until a mysterious benefactor offers to settle the debt. Innocent Lavinia is stunned by what the dashing William White wants in return. Will she exchange a wicked gift for her family’s fortune?
This is the only new story in the anthology and my favorite of the three. It has a completely different take on a historical. Instead of a Duke and Duchess as the main characters, we have a woman who works for her family’s lending library and a man who works as an accountant. William Q. White (which has to be among my top 10 character names) saves all of his money so that he can buy a subscription to the library and instantly becomes enamored of Lavinia. Lavina is equally impressed with William Q. White (and yes I have to type the whole thing - just like Lavinia likes to call him by the whole thing), and when her younger brother makes a mistake with dire consequences she isn’t afraid to turn to him. I just loved everything about this novella and I cannot wait to read Ms. Milan’s first novel, PROOF OF SEDUCTION in 2010!
the book girl gives THIS WICKED GIFT a 5/5!!

: HE SPECIAL OPS HERO FEARED NOTHING— UNTIL HE MET A WOMAN TOO HOT TO HOLD.…
Lieutenant Jake Hansen has survived some of the riskiest missions known to man. But now the wounded Navy SEAL faces his toughest job yet: smuggling Dr. Isabelle Markham out of Africa without triggering an international incident. Not easy to do when the gorgeous hostage happens to be a senator’s daughter—and about as easy to resist as an oasis in the desert.
If it weren’t for Jake, Isabelle would still be halfway across the world, where rebel forces left her for dead. The special ops warrior may have saved her life, but she doesn’t need him to protect her now. Tell that to the ruggedly handsome hunk in full battle fatigues who’s just been assigned as Isabelle’s personal bodyguard. Close quarters aside, Isabelle won’t let Jake anywhere near her heart—until danger throws them together again. And nothing in the jungles of wildest Africa could prepare them for a passion this wild. This crazy. This hot…
This is the first in an exciting new trilogy. I have been reading a lot of holiday themed books lately and this was just what I needed. HARD TO HOLD is fast-paced, action-packed, and hot. I loved all of the characters. Izzy and Jake are both incredible people, who have been through incredible things. Things that would break a weaker person and yet they both have survived. I felt that the connection between the two was very well written with my particular favorite part being that she would reach for his hand even when he wasn’t there. From the beginning I was caught up in the suspense of why someone would hurt Izzy. I cannot wait to read the next two books in the series. I definitely want to find out more about Jake’s brothers - Nick and Chris.

This weeks Fabulous Friday Giveaway is for HOW TO DAZZLE A DUKE by Claudia Dane.
From the back of the book:
Miss Penelope Prestwick wants a duke for a husband, and clearly the dashing Duke of Edenham is the best choice. Just as Lady Dalby is clearly the best person to arrange the match. But how exactly should Penelope go about dazzling a duke? Surely a show of cleavage never hurt anyone. Perhaps a kiss or two. And a bit of competition might do nicely.
To that end, Penelope approaches the Marquis of Iveston with a request. Would he kindly appear interested in her so that the Duke of Edenham will take not of it? Alternately amused and annoyed, Lord Iveston agrees; he even places a wager in White’s betting book to draw attention to the face that he is pursuing Penelope.
Soon, it’s wagers and counter wagers as all of Society tries to determine who will actually marry Penelope. Edenham, who she’s been hotly pursuing, or Iveston, who she’s been hotly kissing? Who will claim the lady’s heart…all in all it’s the most entertaining - and most contested - dance to the altar Sophia has choreographed yet.

Have Yourself A Merry…
A small town Christmas is just what Luck McClure wants for his young son. The snow’s coming down and the tallest tree on the lot is tied to the top of his car. All Luck has to do now is trim it, decorate the lakeside cottage, string the lights and wrap the presents. By himself. And then…along comes Eve Rowland to help. How come he never noticed her before? Shy and sweet, the music teacher makes his heart skip a beat. It’s a wonderful feeling when you realize the right person has been there all the time. And when Luck takes Eve in his arms, it suddenly becomes the most wonderful time of the year. ..
First, the back blurb for this book is misleading. The story doesn’t all take place at Christmas time and there isn’t a point where Luck has a tree tied to his car. Luck and Eve meet in April and then the story builds until Christmas when the climax happens. Eve is a shy music teacher and Luck is a single dad who, after six years, is finally coming out of the fog he’s been in since his wife’s death. Luck’s son, Toby, is my favorite character. He is full of energy and, like most kids, doesn’t have an internal filter of what’s appropriate to say. The story did drag in places for me and things that shouldn’t have taken so long did. If you are looking for a holiday romance, this one doesn’t really fit the bill, but it is a nice read.
the book girl gives EVE’S CHRISTMAS a 4/5
