Review: A JUST DECEPTION by Adrienne Giordano

The protector: Peter Jessup, former Navy SEAL, currently employed by Taylor Security. He likes being the hero-in charge and in control.

His client: Lawyer Isabelle DeRosa. The sexy brunette is the personification of Peter’s fantasies. She’s willing to get physical but nothing more serious.

The assignment: When Isabelle becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her cousin, Peter is there to protect her and help her find the real killer. Their investigation leads to a big-name charity that seems to draw cultlike followers. Isabelle manages to infiltrate the group and become close to their leader, leaving Peter both jealous and worried for her.

As their search leads to danger, Peter realizes he’s falling in love with Isabelle. He wants all of her, but she’s too used to guarding herself to let him in…

Book 2 in the Private Protectors series is as entertaining and enjoyable as the first book – MAN LAW. I really enjoyed this book once I got used to the hero – Peter. In the beginning he comes off as an alpha a-hole. He comments on several peoples weight in a non-flattering way and he just rubbed me the wrong way. By the end of the book I liked him, but still didn’t love him. Isabelle, or Izzy, I loved from the very beginning. She is strong and tough. After a bad childhood that still affects her day-to-day life, she isn’t going to let anyone mess with her. I loved that she was almost tougher than Peter. The romance is sweet and sexy. I loved that Izzy had issues with sex and emotion. Peter has to help her with these issues and his insistence that they didn’t move before she was really ready was the perfect way for the character to act (and very different from is alpha-hole behavior in the beginning). I really like the author’s style of writing and can’t wait to read more by her.

the book girl gives A JUST DECEPTION a 4/5

  1. I just started this one last night…only a few pages in but so far, I like Izzy. Good to hear Peter improves. I liked MAN LAW (except for that one shocking event that totally floored me!).
