Review and Giveaway! THIEF OF SHADOWS by Elizabeth Hoyt

About the book:

Winter Makepeace lives a double life. By day he’s the stoic headmaster of a home for foundling children. But the night brings out a darker side of Winter. As the moon rises, so does the Ghost of St. Giles-protector, judge, fugitive. When the Ghost, beaten and wounded, is rescued by a beautiful aristocrat, Winter has no idea that his two worlds are about to collide.

Lady Isabel Beckinhall enjoys nothing more than a challenge. Yet when she’s asked to tutor the Home’s dour manager in the ways of society-flirtation, double-entendres, and scandalous liaisons-Isabel can’t help wondering why his eyes seem so familiar-and his lips so tempting.

During the day Isabel and Winter engage in a battle of wills. At night their passions are revealed . . . But when little girls start disappearing from St. Giles, Winter must avenge them. For that he might have to sacrifice everything-the Home, Isabel . . . and his life.

The fourth book in the Maiden Lane series is a wonderful love story full of double lives and hidden emotions. The story revolves around Winter and Isabel, the choices they made in the past and the ones they must make for their future. I adore Winter Makepeace. He is a fantastically written character. The one thing that makes him stand out is he is a virgin. He has real reasons for remaining a virgin that all disappear in the face of his attraction to Isabel. The love scenes between Winter and Isabel are incredibly hot. Isabel is unique as well – she is feisty and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about the decisions she makes. She admits to loving bedsport and won’t apologize for it.  The Ghost of St. Giles (Winter) features prominently in the story and it’s through this other side of Winter that the reader learns the most about him. Both characters are afraid of emotion and have to learn to open up and express how they are feeling. I loved the changes in the characters and how they learn to really be themselves.

the book girl gives THIEF OF SHADOWS a 5/5

  4. I am a recent convert to the glory of Elizabeth Hoyt’s books (recent but ardent). It’s difficult for me to answer the favorite book series question, because the answer is usually whatever great series I’ve just read (I’m fickle). At any rate, the answer, then, would be Elizabeth Hoyt’s Legend of the Four Soldiers series. 🙂 Cheers–

  5. I’m looking forward to reading Thief of Shadows. My favorite book series is Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin.

  6. How did you get so lucky to get an advanced copy??? Color me jealous! I am so excited to read Winter’s story. I’ve been ready to find out about the “ghost” since the first in the series. Each and every one has been wonderful but I’m thinking this one will be my favorite. 😀
