Happy Mother’s Day!! I’m looking forward to being spoiled all day by my kiddos and hubby (till he has to go to work – one disadvantage of having a restaurant manager as a husband is he has to work most holidays). I sent my Mom flowers during the week and took MIL to lunch, so I have no obligations today except to relax and read a good book.

Review: SAVAS WILDCAT by Anne McAllister
About the book:
How to turn a good girl bad…
A week of temptation:
Yiannis Savas, the irresistible playboy of the Savas dynasty, was every girl’s dream. But he quickly turned into Cat’s nightmare when his promises led no further than a fiery affair. Now Cat MacLean has grown up and out of her
girlish fantasies. Determined not to fall prey to smooth talk and fast charm again, she’s engaged to someone sensible.
Then she’s forced to spend a week with the one man she’s never forgotten. Yiannis’s heated gaze pierces her defences, and suddenly sensible doesn’t seem quite so good…
I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved Cat, but at times found her behavior silly. She immediately recognizes that she still has feelings for Yannis, but believes that she is committed enough in her relationship with her fiance for those feelings to mean nothing. Even as she admits that she feels things for Yannis that she had never felt for Adam. Yannis comes across as a bit of a jerk. He doesn’t want anything to do with marriage, but not for the usual reasons. He comes from a loving family and had no real relationship trauma. He just doesn’t think that kind of commitment is for him. However he grew on me as the story continued. His dealings with Cat’s nephew, Harry, her grandmother and his parents showed the real Yannis. I wish I had enjoyed the characters more and that the romance between Cat and Yannis would have progressed faster.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday
I have had a horrible migraine since Monday night, so I haven’t read much of anything this week. Today I will *hopefully* start HER WICKED WAYS by Darcy Burke. I’ve heard good things about the story and can’t wait to dive in.
What are you reading this week?
Review: THE DUCHESS OF LOVE by Sally MacKenzie

About the book:
Andrew Valentine, Duke of Greycliffe, never thought arriving at his own household a week early would cause so much trouble. The housekeeper thinks he’s his own cousin. Actually, the chance to not be the duke for a while is a pleasant opportunity indeed. It might even help him interrogate the delectable little nymph he’s discovered swimming in his pond—if he can manage to get a word in edgewise…
This sweet, funny novella is the perfect introduction to a new series. I loved both Drew and Venus. They are both young and fun. I can’t wait to find out how Venus’s matchmaking goes with her own children. My only complain is that I have to wait till June to read the next story – BEDDING LORD NED.

Review: JUST ONE KISS by Isabel Sharpe

About the book:
Tempted by taste…
Nestled in the heart of Seattle, A Taste for all. Pleasures is a warm hub of decadent baking delights. Sweet buttery cookies with melted chocolate, yummy cupcakes with creamy soft icing…and the owner, Angela Loukas, is about to meet a mouthwatering morsel of a man—one she can’t resist!
Unfortunately, Daniel Flynn is officially celibate. No sex. No dating. It’s criminal, really. But once he steps into Angela’s shop, he remembers what temptation—in the form of chocolate icing and a mischievous set of chocolate-brown eyes—feels like.
Now he wants to have his cupcakes…and Angela, too!
I absolutely loved this book. Angela and Daniel are fantastic together. They are both damaged by past relationships and aren’t sure just how to be in a relationship again. Daniel, in the beginning, is a little whiny. His fiance died and he promises to stay single until the date of their wedding passes. It was a very selfish thing for her to ask, but he doesn’t see it that way until he finds Angela. They are drawn to each other in a huge way and their chance meeting at her bakery changes their lives forever. There are some incredibly romantic and sexy parts in the story. JUST ONE KISS is a fun read.

Review: THE WOLF WHO LOVED ME by Lydia Dare
About the book:
LADY MADELINE HAYBURN HAS MONEY PROBLEMS…
Specifically, she has so much of it that she’s dogged by fortune hunters, including her bewilderingly attractive, penniless neighbor, with his wild nature and uncouth manners…
WESTON HADLEY HAS AN IDENTITY CRISIS…
Specifically, he’s just turned into a wolf while Madeline was watching. Now it’s up to the regal lady to tame the wild beast…if she can…
I’m not a huge fan of historical romances with paranormal elements, but the “wolf” books by Lydia Dare work for me. Even though being a werewolf is a huge part of who Weston is, it is a small part of the actual story. When Maddie sees Wes turn into a wolf both of their lives change forever. I loved the way Wes felt about Maddie. He had lusted for her from afar for three years before fate intervened and pushed them together. They are complete opposites in every way and exactly what the other needs. The romance is strong and the paranormal very light. THE WOLF WHO LOVED ME is a romantic and fun read.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday
Today is my 32nd birthday and I plan to spend the day doing nothing but reading and napping. (At least until the kids come home from school and I have to take my daughter for her ballet pictures) I started Insatiable by Lauren Dane last night and so far I’m digging it. It’s different from the Lauren Dane stuff I’ve read before.
ETA: This was supposed to post first thing this morning, but didn’t. I did do nothing for at least most of the day. I got up with the kids and opened presents (new fancier Keurig machine, iTunes and Starbucks GC, lots of pens and highlighters, a zebra high-heel tape dispenser, and a new USB flash drive in the shape of Nemo.) I read, watched TV, and took a long nap. Now the hubby and I are going to do a little shopping before the kids are out of school. Then tonight after ballet he’s taking me out for dinner while my SIL babysits. A pretty perfect birthday!
Review: A LADY’S REVENGE by Tracey Devlyn

About the book:
NOTHING GETS BETWEEN A LADY AND HER VENGEANCE…
In a daring rescue, beautiful and wily secret operative Cora deBeau is reunited with her childhood friend Guy Trevelyan, who wants so much more from her now than friendship…
But Cor’s mission against the French has become personal, and the thought of revenge is driving her relentlessly. Even the fire between her and Guy won’t deter her. Except Guy isn’t going to allow Cora to break free of him. He’s going to stoke that fire until they both go up in flames…
I really enjoyed this historical romance. It is very different from a typical regency romance. Cora is a hardcore spy and she has been tortured beyond recognition when Guy rescues her from a French dungeon. They are followed back to England and must work together to keep Cora, Guy, and their love ones safe. I loved the intrigue and suspense of the book. Cora and Guy’s feelings for each other are evident from the very beginning, but Cora doesn’t believe herself worthy of Guy’s love. Her time in France changed the way she viewed herself. Guy has to work to make her realize that he loves her for who she is, not what she has done. A LADY’S REVENGE is wildly romantic, quick paced, and entertaining from beginning to end.
