Get Hooked On Historicals and WIN!

historicalhookup2

I’m hosting some wonderful historical romance authors today and giving away a great prize pack courtesy of Forever! I’m a huge fan of historical romances, they are my comfort read and always what I go to when I’m in a reading slump.

Here is the question that was given to the authors:

What is the best thing about your heroine?

And here are their answers:

Jennifer Haymore – I think it’s that she’s strong, and she’s determined. She doesn’t always make the right decisions, but her strength and determination to see justice served carry her through.

Kate McKinley – Daphne is incredibly loyal, which turns out to be more of a liability than a virtue.

Kristen Callihan – She knows exactly how to deal with men who have no tact? Heh. Actually, it would probably be that she keeps her cool in sticky situations and rarely judges others without all the facts. She also has great style! 🙂

GIVEAWAY:

One lucky person will win a prize pack with the following books:

  • The Rogue’s Proposal by Jennifer Haymore (print)
  • Shadowdance by Kristen Callihan (print)
  • Entwined by Kristen Callihan (e-book)

Lukas Hawkins, the second son of the troubled House of Trent, is on a mission: find his missing mother and her alleged kidnapper, a brute named Roger Morton. If bringing the villain to justice means breaking a few laws, then so be it. But when he encounters a mysterious stranger with the face of an angel and a body made for sin, Luke suddenly finds his task-and his heart-in peril.

Emma Curtis knows of Lord Lukas’s rakish reputation-and hopes to use it to her advantage. While most men of honor would never travel alone with an unmarried woman, Luke is quite willing to take Emma on the road . . . and into his bed. As their journey carries them to unexpected places, Luke and Emma indulge their every passion and share their most private fantasies. But just when their deepest desires are finally within reach, a secret is revealed that threatens to end their love forever . . .

Bio: As a child, Jennifer Haymore traveled the South Pacific with her family on their homebuilt sailboat. The months spent on the sometimes quiet, sometimes raging seas sparked her love of adventure and grand romance. Since then, she’s earned degrees in computer science and education and held various jobs ranging from bookselling to teaching inner-city children to acting, but she’s never stopped writing.

You can find Jennifer in Southern California trying to talk her husband into yet another trip to England, helping her three children with homework while brainstorming a new five-minute dinner menu, or crouched in a corner of the local bookstore writing her next novel.

Bio: Kristen Callihan is a child of the eighties, which means she’s worn neon skirts, black lace gloves, and combat boots (although never all at once) and can quote John Hughes movies with the best of them. A lifelong daydreamer, she finally realized that the characters in her head needed a proper home and thus hit the keyboard. She believes that falling in love is one of the headiest experiences a person can have, so naturally she writes romance. Her love of superheroes, action movies, and history led her to write historical paranormals. She lives in the Washington, D.C., area and, when not writing, looks after two children, one husband, and a dog – the fish can fend for themselves.

Bio: Sue-Ellen Welfonder is a Scotophile whose burning wish to make frequent trips to the land of her dreams led her to a twenty-year career with the airlines.

Proud of her own Hebridean ancestry, she belongs to two clan societies: the MacFie Clan Society and the Clan MacAlpine Society. In addition to Scotland, her greatest passions are medieval history, the paranormal, and dogs. She never watches television, loves haggis, and writes at a 450-year-old desk that once stood in a Bavarian castle.

Sue-Ellen is married and currently resides with her husband and Jack Russell terrier in Florida.

  1. DUDE that is so unfair! I can’t pick a favorite but I will narrow it down to 3:
    1) Penny from A Rogue by Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean
    2) Frannie from Surrender to the Devil by Lorraine Heath
    3) Mairin from In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks

  2. Just one, eh? I, likewise, can’t narrow it down so far. Here’s a sampling of favorites in no particular order:

Jane from The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan
Philippa from One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean
Susanna from A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare

  3. Pingback: Teaser Tuesday and Giveaway! | Kate Mckinley

  4. I don’t really have a favorite historical heroine, I love them all. But I do have a fondness for Eloisa James’ Linnet Thrynne from When Beauty Tamed the Beast.

  5. How can you ask us to name one favorite? It cannot be done. LOL

    I do love:
Samantha Wickersham from YOURS UNTIL DAWN by Teresa Medeiros
Theodora Saxby from THE UGLY DUCHESS by Eloisa James
Penelope Bridgeman from SWEET MADNESS by Heather Snow

    bmndshuler(at)hotmail(dot)com

  6. I have always been fond of Miss Scarlet from Gone With the Wind. She was such a strong heroine but she did have her faults. She made it hard to like her but she was so strong.

  7. I’m going to go with Lizzie Bennet from Pride & Prejudice. Even when a man making $10K a year proposes to her, she stands her ground and says No because she didn’t believe in his character (at that point in the book at least).

  8. Ack! Pick only one? Can’t do it…

Just re-read Cictoria Dahl’s A Little Bit Wild — Marissa still cracks me up although she’s young and rather flighty at the beginning of the book…and Minerva in Dare’s A Week to Be Wicked is wonderful…but Jessica Trent in Lord of Scoundrels takes the prize for intelligent & clever & being able to go toe-to-toe with the most dissolute of rakes and win him over!
