UNEXPECTED DESIRE

It’s been ten ears since clean-cut, sexy-as-hell police officer Todd Keenan had a white-hot fling with Erin Brown, the provocative, wild rocker chick next door. Their power exchange in the bedroom got under his skin. But love wasn’t in the cards just yet…

Now, life has thrown the pair back together. But picking up where they left off is tough in light of a painful event from Erin’s past. As Todd struggles to earn her trust, their relationship takes an unexpected and exciting turn when Todd’s best friend, Ben, ends up in their bed – and all three are quite satisfied in this relationship without a name. As the passion they share transforms Erin, will it be enough to help her face the evil she thought she had left behind?

This book is amazing! I was so engrossed in the book I couldn’t do anything but read. Even though it is labeled as an erotic romance it is really so much more. Yes, there is a lot of sex and it can be explicit (and hot), but it is the relationship between Erin and Todd that make the book so amazing.  The emotional journey the characters in the book take had me laughing out loud and crying. The way Ms. Dane writes makes the reader feel. I could feel the love between Erin, Todd, and Ben. I could feel the despair of what Erin had gone through in the past and what she still had to recover after the horrific event that changed her life forever. This is the best book I have read this year. I can’t wait to read Brody, Erin’s older brothers, story next. I wish that the book was already out, but until then I’ll just have to hold on to LAID BARE and read it again and again.

the book girl gives LAID BARE a 5/5!!

From Fantasy to Ecstasy

Ruby Scott is a beautiful, quiet even planner who leads an oh-so-respectable life. Yet the things that go on in her secret fantasies are anything but. She has every intention of keeping her hidden desires under wraps – until she meets a gorgeous, hard-muscled man ten years her junior. Mark St. Crow is a gifted, up-and-coming musician who collects erotic art and loves to “play” women as much as his piano. After one night of uninhibited passion, Ruby realizes there’s no turning back. But as she surrenders to her deepest needs and lets Mark control every forbidden thrill, her passion for him builds. Can the wild, intoxicating nights they share lead to a love that will last forever?

Warning

This Book is Very Hot!

Read it Only if You Can Handle the Heat.

Readers should take the warning on the back of this book very seriously. I think that readers should be aware that there is explicit sex and a lot of bdsm. For me this book didn’t focus enough on the emotional relationship developing between the two characters. It was mostly about the sex, which is fine, but I like a little more for what I read. The characters seemed more concerned with boinking each other than getting to know one another. I just didn’t really enjoy reading the story.

The book girl gives BOUND TO PLEASE 3/5!

gorgeous-as-sinFrom the back of the book:

Fitz Monckton, Duke of Groveland, has never encountered a woman he could not seduce – until he clashes with the beautiful Rosalind St. Vincent, whose bookshop sits in the way of Fitz’s lucrative development deal.

Left nearly penniless because of her late husband’s gambling debts, Rosalind has managed to save her bookshop by dint of hard work and through a foray into a slightly irregular endeavor. She has no intention of selling her shop to satisfy the whim of an entitled scoundrel – even if said scoundrel is gorgeous as sin.

If money won’t entice Rosalind to sell her shop, Fitz must tempt her in other ways – hopefully mutually pleasurable ways profitable to them both. As for the lady’s obstinate resistance, that will only make her inevitable surrender all the sweeter…

I didn’t enjoy this book at all. I couldn’t connect with either of the characters and didn’t believe that the HEA could possibly happen. There were so many places that the sex was too much and not what I’m used to reading in a historical romance. There wasn’t much of a plot or character development. I just couldn’t get into it at all.

rogue

From Amazon:

Trag and Tychar are brothers sold into slavery when their planet was destroyed. Their race carries a feline gene, giving them sinuous beauty and extraordinary sexual powers. Tychar’s female conquests are legendary, but they never meant much to him, and Trag just laughs at his playboy brother. Living on Darconia, a planet of friendly but unattractive lizards, neither has been with a woman in many years. When the queen hires Kyra Aramis, a human from Earth, to teach piano to her children, Trag and Tychar agree to share the female and set out to win her over…

But suddenly Tychar becomes possessive – Kyra is unlike any woman he’s ever known. But he’s sure he’s ruined any chance of her trusting him with her heart…

I love the Cat Star Chronicles series by Cheryl Brooks. The books are original and keep my interest from the first page. In ROGUE, Kyra is a terran who has never been off-planet. In her own quest to find something more in life she accepts the job of teaching a princess on the planet Darconia to play the piano. During her first day she meets the “tigers” Trag and Tychar. She is instantly taken with one of them, but is still drawn to the other also. The relationship between Tychar and Kyra evolves quickly and is very steamy. I like how the author did give Kyra time to adapt to her new surroundings instead of having her immediately acclimate. The love story between Tychar, Trag, and Kyra is HOT and deeply emotional. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait for OUTCAST (June 2009).

desire-for-threeFrom the back of the book:

With her fortieth birthday approaching and a bad marriage behind her, Jessica Tyler wants a fresh start. Marriage left her an emotionless shell and she vows never to get involved with a man again. Giving in to her sister, Jesse agrees to visit her in Desire, Oklahoma.

But Desire is a small town unlike any other. Dom/sub and menage relationships are the norm in a town where ranchers and cowboys adore and protest their women in ways that leave Jesse…fascinated. She’s first intrigued, then alarmed when two gorgeous over-protective brothers, Clay and Rio Erickson, rush to claim her for their own.

Yanked from her protective shell, threatened by her ex, Jesse is determined to stay strong, even as her two formidable lovers are intent on possessing her.

Will her independence be smothered or will love give her the strength to change all three of their lives forever?

This book is an erotic romance with a M/F/M menage a trois romance and some Dom/Sub sex. It is all of that, but at the heart of the book is a woman trying to overcome and abusive past and the men who just want to love her. There is a lot of sex and most, if not all, of it is explicit, but I was moved by the Jessica’s story. After her ex-husband mistreated her to the point she felt nothing, except for her son Alex, Jesse is finally able to feel something with Rio and Clay. I will admit that this book was outside of my comfort zone, but I still loved the story. There is a perfect set-up for the next book in the series where the focus is on Jesse’s friend Kelly. I will definitely be reading the rest of the Desire, Oklahoma series.
