About the book:

Adrian Blackstone built a million-dollar business with hard work and determination—and by remaining professional at all times. Denying his longtime attraction to his beautiful executive assistant hasn’t been easy but it’s necessary. She’s indispensable, and he can’t stand the thought of losing her if things didn’t work out.

For more than a year, Rachel Carter has been quietly dreaming of all the ways she’ll never seduce her sexy, buttoned-up boss. She’s worked too hard to get where she is to cross that line, no matter how badly she’d like to act on her fantasies. But then a wicked snowstorm leaves them stranded in a romantic winter wonderland…

What begins as a single kiss and a few bad Santa jokes turns into a weekend full of breathless passion and hopes for something more. But with Monday comes a return to their complicated reality—and Adrian must prove that promises made are promises kept, especially at Christmastime.

I adored this book. The story jumps right in and never slows down. Even though the story is short, it doesn’t feel incomplete or like it is missing anything. (When I saw the word count I was surprised it was that short!) The chemistry between Adrian and Rachel is evident from the very beginning of the story. I really enjoyed how they both worried about what their relationship would be like when they got back to the real world and had let that fear keep them from acting on that attraction for so long. It made their weekend fling seem like so much more than a three night stand. Their problems with reconciling their romantic relationship and their work relationship take a little time, but work themselves out quickly. The writing is excellent. SNOWBOUND WITH THE CEO is the perfect book for a cold winter night.

About the book:

When Oliver Townsende escapes to his friend’s house for a Christmas party, he intends to avoid the hordes of marriage-minded misses who have been dogging his steps in London ever since he inherited a dukedom. He soon learns a bit of Yuletide peace and quiet is too much to ask for. When he encounters Miss Cerian Blake, who’s dodging her own unwanted set of admirers, the two decide to join forces and fake an infatuation to keep their suitors at bay. But when a bough of mistletoe becomes involved, will their Christmastime prank turn into a love to last all seasons?

I am a HUGE fan of any type of holiday themed romance story and IT HAPPENED UNDER THE MISTLETOE is a perfect holiday themed novella. Oliver and Cerian are an awesome couple. I love how similar they are – usually it is opposites that attract. They are both trying to avoid the men/women who are after them for the title(Oliver)/money(Cerian) and what better way to do that then to pretend to be a courting each other? Oliver and Cerian have major chemistry and the help of a certain feline that helps them to their happily ever after. I finished the novella with a smile on my face. If you are looking for a quick read with a holiday theme this is the perfect novella.

About the book:

Sweet, shy Lady Esme has a little-known pastime-penning scandalous stories! But society must never find out or she’ll be ruined! Fortunately, her dear friend, bestselling author Jennifer Haymore, is happy to share Esme’s sensual tale of lost love and second chances . . .

HIS FOR CHRISTMAS

Lady Amelia Witherspoon simply must get home to her beloved family on Christmas Eve. So when a terrible storm threatens to leave her snowbound, she refuses to admit defeat-even if that means sharing a carriage with Evan Cameron, the last man she ever hoped to see . . .

Evan can’t fathom why his oldest friend is as icy to him as the winter wind. All he does know is that Amelia is still the loveliest, most tempting woman he’s ever laid eyes on. Their only option is to take refuge together at a nearby inn, sharing the one remaining room. Evan promises to be a gentleman . . . but it’s a promise neither of them wants him to keep.

(30,000 words)

HIS FOR CHRISTMAS is a hot, romantic novella. The attraction between Amelia and Evan is off the charts and I loved the way they over come their past to find their way to happily ever after. The story moves at a very fast pace and is a very quick read. The story is still very fulfilling and complete. I especially loved the way the romance between Amelia and Evan comes full circle. Even certain important events repeat themselves in slightly different ways. HIS FOR CHRISTMAS is the perfect read for a cold night!

About the book:

Sensible gentleman of means seeks a sensible lady of good breeding for correspondence, and in due consideration, matrimony.

Which is exactly the sort of advertisement that makes practical to-a-fault Daphne Dale’s heart flutter. A sensible gentleman  in her estimation, is the perfect match, and she’s even more convinced once she’s exchanging sensibly romantic letters with her very appropriate suitor. That is,until Lord Henry Seldon strays into her path. He’s everything she’s vowed to avoid—a rakish charmer whose very touch seduces her practical sensibilities and her resolve.

Lord Henry Seldon was not amused when his nephew placed an advertisement to find him a wife. Yet he couldn’t resist replying to the note from “Miss Spooner.” And once he discovers he’s corresponding with none other than the disarming Daphne Dale, he finds it’s too late to disavow his heart. Now it is up to Henry to prove to Daphne just how insensible—and powerfully passionate—true love can be . . .

There were parts to this book that I loved (the sexual tension between Henry and Daphne) and parts that I couldn’t stand (the blasted feud between the Dales and the Seldons). I really liked the premise of the hero and heroine communicating by letter and not being quite sure when they met this person that they are so attracted to if they are the one who wrote the letters. Since neither Henry nor Daphne used their true name in the communications they aren’t sure if they are Miss Spooner and Mr. Dishworth. Once they find out that the other is a member of their families sworn enemy because of a (stupid) feud they both hope that the other isn’t who they have been writing to and falling in love with via post. The first half of this book is fantastic. There is such a pull between Henry and Daphne – a forbidden attraction. However, once they move on that attraction someone happens to the story and it starts to fall flat. The last part of the book is drawn out and boring. Henry and Daphne refuse to give up all of their secrets and it gets tiring. I will say that I loved the ending though. It has to be one of my favorite “wedding” scenes ever.

About the book:

The holidays are a time for wishes, magic and, of course, love. Celebrate the season with this delightful collection of Christmas tales.

What better way for Connor Talbot, Earl of Redfirn, to spend the holidays than convincing Leonora Compton that the only match she needs to make is with him!

The Duke of Ashton has had three years to plan for his perfect Christmas present—the Lady Eleanor Fitzsimmons as his wife. Now, all he has to do is convince the reluctant lady …

Phin Baldwin does not believe in Christmas magic … until the clever and beautiful Ginny Overton gets it into her head to show him how wonderful it can be when wishes come true.

Just returned from the Crusades, marriage is the last thing on Sir Caerwyn’s mind. But will he be able to resist Lady Nia, the thief of his boyhood heart, when she tempts him yet again?

Responsible Ethan Weatherstone is determined to save Penelope Rutledge—and her reputation—from her silly scheme, but can he save himself from the temptation of her lips?

I really enjoyed this anthology. Each story is a quick read and full of romance. The stories are full of hope, love, and the magic of the holiday season. I really liked that each story is different. They take place in different times and have different kinds of heroes and heroines. I didn’t feel like I was reading the same story over and over like I sometimes do with other anthologies. I believe this would be the perfect book to read in the week leading up to Christmas. Each story can be read in one sitting and would provide the perfect escape from the holiday craziness. Plus, at $0.99 for Kindle and Nook FIVE GOLDEN RINGS isn’t going to break the holiday budget!!

About the book:

Caidy Bowman had been the apple of her family’s eye—until a devastating tragedy forced her to hide from the world. She was used to devoting her time to the animals on her family’s ranch. Then widower Ben Caldwell and his two adorable children arrived in Pine Gulch, and suddenly, Caidy wanted more than a life in the shadows….

As the town’s new vet, Ben needed a place to stay for the holidays—and for his family to heal from their own loss. He absolutely wasn’t looking for love again! But Caidy Bowman’s sparkling green eyes and sweet smile touched Ben’s broken heart, giving him hope for a new future. Their future—if he could convince the beautiful cowgirl that Christmas was a time for new beginnings.

A COLD CREEK NOEL is a very sweet book about new beginnings and overcoming the past. Caidy has hidden herself away on her family’s ranch. She takes care of her brothers and their growing families along with the animals. Caidy has always felt that her life was full, if not complete, until she meets the new vet in town and the longing for something more starts building within her. Ben has moved his family for a new beginning after the death of his wife. He hopes to reconnect with his kids and find some way to rebuild the relationship that his in-laws had tried their hardest to tear down. These two characters don’t believe that they are ready for a relationship, but love doesn’t care if a person is “ready”. I loved the slow progression of the romance and the build up of the attraction between Ben and Caidy. They are instantly attracted, but don’t act on it. They think through their feelings and thing about the consequences for Ben’s children. A COLD CREEK NOEL is an emotionally satisfying holiday story with a very sweet happily ever after.

About the book:

Reina Vedette chose principle over position when the Chicago police department ordered her to accept performance-enhancing body modifications or lose her rank. Demoted to a level one detective, Reina’s stuck chasing a bizarre, Grinch-in-reverse break-in case with fiery bod-mod enthusiast and level five top detective Edison Wicke.

Wicke has had his eye on Reina for ages, and as the two of them hunt down the benevolent burglar, they take turns warming each other with body heat in the subzero Chicago winter. Despite professional friction and their opposing views on bod-modding, Reina soon has to admit that she and Wicke are perfect for each other.

But when they track down their philanthropic quarry on Christmas Day, an unexpected glitch in a homemade android brings out Reina’s emotional side, and she and Wicke must decide whether love between a Neo-Luddite and a “walking toaster” is a gift that either of them can give.

I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this book since I don’t normally read sci-fi, but I heard good things about it on twitter so I decided to give it a try.  I’m so glad that I was open minded about it and read this book. I loved it. The world building is great, but not overwhelming. There are all sorts of high-tech gadgets and Edison is a modified human, but the story is very much a romance between two people who are different on the outside and connect where it’s important…their hearts. HOW THE GLITCH SAVED CHRISTMAS is about finding your way back to the true feelings of the holiday – love and family. The relationship between Edison and Reina is sexy and sweet. I loved the moments where they surprise each other with the affection between them. This novella is one of my favorite reads so far this holiday season.

This quote from the story sums it up perfectly:

“The feelings behind Christmas can be so much more than the in-your-face commercialism, you know? It can be about the joy of sharing your life. It can be about finding where you belong in the world, and being with the people who mean the most to you.”

About the book:

Brennan Henry doesn’t have time for holly and jolly. He’s been too busy boosting the bottom line for the family business. That is, until his eccentric grandfather hands over a lot of money to a stranger on the street. Some nonsense about her being the true spirit of Christmas. Yeah, right. All Brennan can see is he’s now got a situation on his hands with one Mary Paige Gentry.

Then he meets Mary Paige. And no matter how deep he searches, it seems she’s the real deal. Kind, compassionate and just enough sass to keep him very intrigued. The spark of attraction between them could land him on the naughty list! But his is still a dollars-and-cents world…unless she can prove there’s more to the season—more to life—than money.

I was in need of a Christmas romance with a truly Grinch-like hero and I definitely found him in Brennan Henry. He is the perfect Grinch with good reason and Mary Paige is the perfect woman to make his heart grow three sizes bigger. I loved how this story blended the relationship between Mary Paige and Brennan and the changes in the relationship between Brennan and his grandfather so well. Brennan’s grandfather is the catalyst to the changes by introducing Mary Paige to Brennan and starting them on their journey together even if at the time they meet they don’t appreciate it. Brennan undergoes some serious growth throughout the book and I loved how different his is at the end of the story. He becomes a better man for knowing Mary Paige. She also changes, although not as drastically, by knowing him. THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS is both romantic and emotional – a wonderful story of love, hope, and learning to trust at Christmas time.

About the book:

Finn, Viscount Edgerton, has avoided the London scene to focus solely on digging out from under the pile of debt his father left behind. A decent dowry could make things a hell of a lot easier for the estate, but he hasn’t met the right woman. And he never would have expected her to come in the form of “Miss Mistletoe”—the young woman who stole a kiss at a ball in front of the ton and caused a scandal.

On the eve of her cousin’s wedding, Cece McCrea hardly expects to run into the man who inspired her indiscretion five years ago. This time, she resolves to put aside her childish crush and avoid him altogether. Her will is tested, however, when he pursues her….

MISS MISTLETOE is an incredibly sweet and romantic story. I loved the relationship between CeCe and Finn. As a girl she had been head over heels in love with him and acted impulsively – earning her the nickname Miss Mistletoe. Five years later, they both believe that they will want nothing to do with the other when they are forced to be together for her cousin’s wedding. Finn, however, hates that CeCe can so easily ignore him. He is intrigued by the changes in her and wants to get to know her better. I love how the tables turn on him and he becomes the one in pursuit. Every interaction between the two characters sizzles. Even though MISS MISTLETOE is a novella the author manages to encompass a complete courtship and happily ever after. I loved every minute of the story.

If you haven’t read the other books in the Sealed with a Kiss series – MORE THAN A STRANGER and A TASTE FOR SCANDAL – you should. They are fabulous!
