It’s HERE!

front cover 1My book is finally out in the wild!

When I started writing I set a goal of being published before I was 35. My birthday is next Saturday and, you guessed it, I will be turning 35. I managed to hit the goal I set for myself exactly one week before my deadline. Sure, I technically signed the contract over a year ago, but I didn’t really consider myself published until my copy arrived from Amazon. It is quite a feeling seeing your name on the cover of a book for the first time.

There is something very frightening about putting something you worked so hard on out there for everyone to read. I reviewed books for a lot of years and now I find myself on the other side – waiting to hear what others think of words I chose carefully and characters I care about – and I’m nervous. (It totally doesn’t help that my MOTHER keeps texting with updates – Oh wow! Chapter 13 was their first time! Sexy!)

Since I wrote MAKE ME A MATCH, I have finished two more books which are in the process of being submitted and I’m almost finished with a third. I’m sure as time goes on and I have more books that find their way out into the wild I will get used to others reading my work, but I hope the feeling I felt when I opened that box from Amazon and saw my name on a book cover never goes away.

Musical Inspiration

I’ve been editing like crazy and listening to the playlist I made while writing MAKE ME A MATCH in November. I love how music can remind me of the characters or a moment that I wrote. I heard this song last week and it sparked a new idea that is so different from anything I have ever written before. I’m now working on MAKE ME A MATCH during the day and Georgia #1 at night. The books are so different and it is refreshing to step into the new world and take a break from Maddy and Sean.

EditPalooza Time!

Today marks the start of a month-long wild ride. I will be editing the book that I wrote in November during Entangled Publishing’s Smackdown – MAKE ME A MATCH.  The story is a light paranormal with a witch who accidentally makes herself irresistible to all men and the best friend who finally realizes that he wants her for himself. This weekend I sat down and read the entire manuscript and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the story and how much it didn’t stink 🙂 I was really worried that it was going to be a mess of disjointed chapters and nonsense. The first chapter needs to be rewritten and there are some holes that need plugging, but nothing that scares me too much.

My inspiration for today is the picture I used for my main male character in my wip.
