About the book:

Once blissfully in love . . .
Poppy Lane is keeping secrets. Her powerful gift has earned her membership in the Society for the Suppression of Supernaturals, but she must keep both her ability and her alliance with the Society from her husband, Winston. Yet when Winston is brutally attacked by a werewolf, Poppy’s secrets are revealed, leaving Winston’s trust in her as broken as his body. Now Poppy will do anything to win back his affections . . .

Their relationship is now put to the ultimate test.
Winston Lane soon regains his physical strength but his face and heart still bear the scars of the vicious attack. Drawn into the darkest depths of London, Winston must fight an evil demon that wants to take away the last hope of reconciliation with his wife. As a former police inspector, Winston has intelligence and logic on his side. But it will take the strength of Poppy’s love for him to defeat the forces that threaten to tear them apart.

As soon as I started reading WINTERBLAZE I couldn’t put it down – I was pulled into this other world and didn’t want to leave. This is probably the tightest story as far as plot goes that I have read this year. A LOT happens during the course of the book (both in the past and present) that the reader must keep up with, but it all unfolds perfectly. The relationship between Winston and Poppy is intense. Through flashbacks the reader sees how they met and fell in love. Their relationship is in turmoil in the present because of lies and pride, but the connection between them is so incredibly strong. Winston and Poppy must work to repair their broken marriage while trying to beat a demon who is after them. There is a lot of sexual tension between the couple as they work their way back into each others arms. WINTERBLAZE is a reunion story, an adventure, a romance, and a triumph of good over evil all in one fantastically written novel.

*WINTERBLAZE is the third in a series. Book #1 – FIRELIGHT Book #2 – MOONGLOW*

About the book:

Investigative journalist Kendall Glynn is horrified when a friend and colleague signs off permanently during a live newscast, jabbing a pen into his jugular. Kendall’s no expert, but judging by the strange white veil in the anchorman’s eyes, she would swear he was a man possessed.

A descendant of the accursed Nephilim, Zeke Reece prowls San Francisco by night, keeping the city free from paranormal phenomena. But even he is no match for whatever malevolent force is behind a recent rash of murder-suicides. And when a beautiful tenacious reporter becomes the next target, Zeke has no choice but to stay close to her, until he can find the evil spirit and cross it over.

The closer Kendall gets to the truth, the more danger she’s in. Fortunately, a sexy and mysterious masked stranger keeps swooping in to the rescue. Kendall’s life depends on finding who or what is responsible for the killings, before it finds her.

NOBODY’S ANGEL is a departure from the contemporary and historical romances I usually read, but after reading Ms. Gail’s holiday novella I wanted to read more by her. I wasn’t disappointed. For a novella there is a lot of story and it is very well done. Kendall and Zeke have insane chemistry from the first time they meet – even though Kendall is in shock after seeing someone die and being covered in blood. I loved Kendall’s drive to find out what was happening around her. Zeke is mysterious and it takes Kendall awhile to figure out just who and what he is. I loved that although he had trouble accepting himself, Kendall did not. There was creepiness to the story, a darkness that I’m not used to reading, but really enjoyed. I really liked the way the good vs. evil part of the story was written. This was a pretty perfect novella and a great introduction to the Earth Angel series. I can’t wait to read the next book.

About the book:

Book two of Alliance of the Amazons

Megan Feurer is strong and impetuous, like the Fire element she represents. She is an Amazon, sworn to protect humanity from demons, demigods and all manner of supernatural beings who wish ill upon the world. But her fire burns hot and fast, and her unpredictable control of the element brings into question her fitness as an Amazon.

Johann Herrmann chose the life of a Sentinel–a trainer of the four Amazons–to save his sister’s life. Now bound to the patron goddess Rhiannon, he knows his duty demands a solitary existence. But when he’s assigned to evaluate the Fire Amazon, his sacrifice becomes much more difficult.

Megan’s passions ignite a flame that neither she nor Johann can control, and the goddess Freya has reason to fan those flames. A mysterious force is gaining power, and Megan and Johann must join together to fight. And once a passionate fire has started, it’s nearly impossible to stop…

THE IMPETUOUS AMAZON is a hot, sexy, action-packed story from beginning to end. Book Two of the Alliance of Amazons focuses on Fire Amazon – Megan. Sentinel Johann (Joeman) has been sent to Chicago to help her tame her powers and learn to harness her fire. The only problem is the two of them together seem to create even more sparks. I love Megan. She’s brassy, tough and independent on the outside, but if you dig in just a little she really just needs someone to stand beside her and not leave. She needs to be able to depend on someone. She’s able to show Johann her vulnerable side as they come to mean more to each other than just Sentinel and Amazon. While Johann is an important part of the story and the romance between him and Megan is integral to what happens between the Amazon’s and the big bad, there isn’t much to his character. He doesn’t go through much growth and begins the story already in love with Megan. It doesn’t hurt the story at all that his character is stable. In fact, with the huge changes that Megan goes through and all of the action in the story Johann’s stability is a nice balance. I loved every moment of this book and can’t wait for the next in the series (THE BRAZEN AMAZON – MAY 13).

About the book:

True Halloween pleasures don’t come from sweets . . .

Indulge yourself with some tasty tricks and treats from three popular erotica authors as they serve up tales of chilling, thrilling passion.

Megan Hart’s Nothing Else Matters

After surviving the zombie apocalypse, Lira wants nothing more than the sense of life that only lust can bring. Suddenly torn between two irresistible lovers, Lira must choose: the one who brings her carnal fantasies to life? Or the one who sets her ablaze again and again?

Lauren Hawkeye’s Pick Me Up

Sure, hitchhiking is dangerous, but Holly just had to get away. Now soaking wet and stuck in a downpour with her roadside savior, she’s ready for a little window-steaming and some role-play. It’s all fun and games until Holly realizes she’s met her match . . .

Saranna DeWylde’s Little Red’s Big Bad

Hunting werewolves and being snowbound in a remote cabin with a sexy FBI agent are all in a day’s work for U.S. Marshal Miranda Garrick. But when business mixes with pleasure, can she stay in control? Or will she be tempted by unrestrained passion . . . and tantalizing danger?

HOT AND HAUNTED just didn’t work for me. I enjoyed Megan Hart’s story and went to find out if there was something more set in the same world, but the other two stories fell flat. All three stories are extremely hot and erotic, but missing a romantic element. If you are looking for something very sexy and short, this might work for you. It just wasn’t to my taste.

About the book:

Got Warlock?

Middy Cherrywood does. She’s got more warlock than she can hex with Dred Shadowins. He isn’t just a billionaire playboy and Weekly Warlock centerfold. He’s a spy for the High Chancellor, and he convinces Middy to pose as his fiancée for his latest mission. Too bad no one told his mother before she slipped Middy a potion that will make their sham engagement all too real in just ten days.

Dred Shadowins already has his hands full with cursed objects, possessed nuns, and dreams where Merlin makes him pay for taking his name in vain by relating his sexcapades with Nimue. But by the end of the mission, he’s convinced his most difficult challenge is the hero’s cape Middy’s draped over his shoulders. Because he wants nothing more than to give her the one thing he may not be capable of providing: Happily Ever After.

HOW TO MARRY A WARLOCK IN 10 DAYS is a very funny and entertaining read. However, the plot is a little on the thin side and at times was completely overshadowed by the sexual relationship between Middy and Dred. I did enjoy the characters and the relationship that develops between Middy and Dred. When they knew each other as teenagers he made fun of her and she despised him, but it was really a case of not wanting to admit that they had the hots for each other. When they are thrown together as adults there is an intense chemistry between them. I loved the banter between them – the dialogue made this book for me.

Example:

“I’ve found dragons to be kind and wise, shining armor rusts like a bitch, marriage is overrated, and charming princes are usually whoremongers. I can buy myself a pretty dress and I don’t have to bind myself to someone to do it.”

“That’s pretty damn cynical, Midnight. I think I might just have to marry you after all.”

I just wish that their fight against the big bad would have been a more consistent part of the story. At times I couldn’t tell if they even remembered that they were supposed to be hunting down a bad guy and trying to stop something that could be catastrophic from happening.

About the book:

The last thing Rebecca Massee expects on her wedding day is to go from jilted kindergarten teacher to Amazonian Earth warrior. But when she causes an earthquake after her groom says I don’t, she discovers that not only does she possess incredible powers, she is one of four lost chosen sisters who must fight to keep humanity safe from rogue gods and demons. Luckily she has help: ruggedly handsome Scottish warrior Artair MacKay, her protector and teacher.

An immortal, Artair has trained countless warriors for more than four hundred years. He understands Rebecca’s confusion at the new world she’s been thrust into and worries she is too emotionally vulnerable, but that doesn’t stop his growing feelings for the beautiful and fearless woman.

When an evil force threatens to destroy the Amazons, Rebecca must claim her full powers—but they come at a cost. Can she sacrifice the man she loves if it means saving the world?

I was looking for an escape when I started reading this book. My husband’s surgery last week ended up being a huge ordeal and I needed a break from reality. Most books are in some way, but I was looking for something that could never, ever happen. I loved every moment of THE RELUCTANT AMAZON. There is romance, mystery, action, and tons of emotion throughout the story. Rebecca undergoes such a transformation between the day she finds out she’s an Amazon (and gets left at the altar) and the day she truly accepts her place as Earth. I adored the relationship between her and Artair. It’s wildly romantic – the sentinel and the Amazon – who cannot be together. Their love is forbidden and they both fight their attraction until they no longer can. I also loved the relationships that develop between Rebecca and the other amazons especially Megan (Fire). Their bond is strong and gives Rebecca amazing strength. The Amazons fight to keep the gods or other ancients from unleashing evil in their world. Rebecca and her sisters are called when two of the previous group of Amazons go missing and one is killed. They must work with Sparks, Fire from the last generation, to find the missing Amazons and to find out who is trying to hurt them all. I loved the twist and turns the story took and can’t wait to find out what happens next in the series.

About the book:

Gina Hall is a college drop-out with big dreams. Working as the receptionist at EnClo Corp isn’t one of them, but she needs the paycheck, and she amuses herself by speculating what the mysterious company actually does. She’s even more intrigued when the owner arrives, bringing with him a very attractive man named Burke.

Burke’s job is more deadly than dead-end: as head henchman for Gina’s boss, a.k.a. supervillain Static, he makes sure his boss doesn’t end up in jail-or worse. But Static’s latest scheme is way more legitimate than either of them are used to. This time they have a real office-with a smart, sexy receptionist.

Unfortunately Gina isn’t the only one curious about EnClo Corp’s business. When a superhero starts sniffing around, he proves to be less than heroic, and the lines between good and evil blur. Only Gina and Burke can foil his investigation… provided they can keep their hands off each other long enough to save the day.

HOW TO DATE A HENCHMAN is a very fun book and was exactly what I was looking for. Gina works as a receptionist at a mysterious company – she isn’t even sure what they do. All day she is left alone with only her computer and the CCTV monitors for company. But all that changes the day the company’s owner, Mr. Sparks, and his “associate” Burke, visit EnClo Corp. Suddenly she is dodging superheroes, supervillains, and falling for one very sexy henchman. I loved the premise of this story. The “heroes” and “villains” in this world aren’t always easy to determine. I liked the relationship developing between Gina and Burke, but the romance is only in the baby stages at the end of the novella. The story mainly focuses on stopping a “bad” guy with the romance secondary. I hope in the future we get more set in this world and find out what happens next for Gina and Burke.

About the book:

Demon-slayers, evil forces, and an uber-bitchy ghost…

Hotter Than A Demon In Panties

Evie Douglass doesn’t know what’s worse—the demons secretly infesting her small Alabama hometown…or human belle-from-hell Meredith Starr Peterson, who’s made her life miserable since high school. But when the “Death Starr” is brutally murdered and Evie is the number-one suspect, she’s suddenly besieged by the evil-not-dead-enough and Meredith’s furious specter. The only way she can clear her name is to get out from under demon hunter Ansgar’s grim protection. He’s blond, breathtaking, and the most lethal of all his kin, but after years of teasing, Evie is wary of anyone who swears her plus-size self is beautiful. However, having Ansgar all over her is sparking outrageous powers Evie didn’t know she had. And she’ll face any ultimate evil to keep this sexy slayer in this dimension and in her bed for all eternity…

I love this series. I’m not a huge fan of paranormal romance (it has to be really good or by a favorite author for me to read it), but I love Lexi George’s writing style and sense of humor. Addy and Evie are so different and the best of friends. I love how they balance each other out. It’s the same with Ansgar and Evie. Ansgar takes everything so seriously and Evie is able to lighten situations for him and she makes him feel for the first time. Their relationship started in the first book of the series – DEMON HUNTING IN DIXIE. I think it’s important in this series to read the books in order to understand what has happened in Hannah and what has happened between Ansgar and Evie. There is just the right amount of woo-woo (what Evie and Addy call the paranormal stuff going on around them) to move the story forward and enough mystery to keep the reader turning the page to find out whose trying to mess with Evie’s life by framing her for murder. DEMON HUNTING IN THE DEEP SOUTH is funny, romantic, and sexy.

About the book:

Vampire Nick Christos might have been born in the Middle Ages, but those days seem tame compared to the last eight years spent ruling the Supernatural Council. The only respite in his long days of governing is with his sweet neighbor Casey Meyers. Sure, he’s forced to take a cold shower after every encounter, but no way will he risk anything more with a human. Not with his blood thirsty ex on the prowl and out to ruin Nick’s life.

But when said crazy ex shows up at the ball and flies her freak flag high, Nick has more to worry about than keeping his hands off his neighbor. He’ll have to stay closer than ever if he hopes to keep her alive, but will she want to leave him forever when she learns the truth?

I have always been a huge fan of Candace Havens. I especially love her paranormal romance books. They are written with the right balance of humor and sexiness. TAKE IT LIKE A VAMP is no different. Nick is one sexy vampire dude. He is super rich, super good-looking, and super nice. I liked that there wasn’t anything really wrong with him. He wasn’t terribly broody or angst-ridden. His only flaw is that in trying to protect Casey from things he hides some bits and pieces of his life from her. Casey is also an amazing character. She’s super flawed (in her own mind) and constantly puts herself down (and Nick builds her back up), but unlike most characters that act this way it didn’t get on my nerves. I’m not really sure why it didn’t, but I liked her warts and all. The action between Nick’s ex and Casey is fantastic. The story moves quickly and is hilarious. The sex (when Casey finally gets her way) is explosive. I’m hoping that we get more set in this world created by Ms. Havens. (I really, really want Nick’s best friend Linc’s story!!)

About the book:

LADY MADELINE HAYBURN HAS MONEY PROBLEMS…

Specifically, she has so much of it that she’s dogged by fortune hunters, including her bewilderingly attractive, penniless neighbor, with his wild nature and uncouth manners…

WESTON HADLEY HAS AN IDENTITY CRISIS…

Specifically, he’s just turned into a wolf while Madeline was watching. Now it’s up to the regal lady to tame the wild beast…if she can…

I’m not a huge fan of historical romances with paranormal elements, but the “wolf” books by Lydia Dare work for me. Even though being a werewolf is a huge part of who Weston is, it is a small part of the actual story. When Maddie sees Wes turn into a wolf both of their lives change forever. I loved the way Wes felt about Maddie. He had lusted for her from afar for three years before fate intervened and pushed them together. They are complete opposites in every way and exactly what the other needs. The romance is strong and the paranormal very light. THE WOLF WHO LOVED ME is a romantic and fun read.
