About the book:

For over a decade, a killer has been waiting, silent as death and . . .
GUILTY AS SIN

Fourteen years ago, Kate Beckett was a teenager more interested in summer romance than babysitting. Then the unthinkable happened: her younger brother was kidnapped and murdered on her watch. Now she is an advocate for missing children, and her newest case brings her back to the small town where she lost her brother-and where she left behind the first boy she ever loved.

Tommy Ibarra’s world fell apart after Kate broke his heart, and he’s spent his adult life making sure that he’ll never be vulnerable again. When a teenage girl vanishes, he offers his expertise as a high tech security expert to help find her. Although he’s determined to keep his distance from Kate, it isn’t long before he’s falling under her spell all over again.

As they race against the clock, their investigation leads to a brutal killer with a shocking connection to Kate’s tragic past. And this time, the killer has Kate firmly in his sites.

GUILTY AS SIN is a great romantic suspense. There is great tension and chemistry between Kate and Tommy. I loved that we got to see how they were before tragedy struck Kate’s family and then fourteen years later how they find their ways back to each other. Kate tries to keep everything together, but being back near Tommy and where her brother was murdered is sometimes too much. She leans on him and the chemistry between them can’t be denied. Tommy wants to hate Kate, but he just can’t. The mystery is really well written and I had narrowed the suspects down to two, but wasn’t sure which one it was before the big reveal. There is a lot of action, some very hot sex, and a show-down with the big bad. GUILTY AS SIN is a wild ride and one that I loved!

About the book:

As a former Marine, Walker could find a needle in a haystack. But when he’s asked by the U.S. Marshals to track down a nanny fleeing from the mafia, he’s sure she’ll be more trouble than she’s worth. Especially after the sexy little thing clubs him and leaves him for dead. Walker’s stunned by her courage—and her curves—and can’t help feeling drawn to this damsel trying to dig her way out of distress. He’ll find her, and when he does, it’ll take more than the mafia to tear him away.

Darcy Maddox never expected to be running for her life. But when it suddenly looks like foe may become friend, Darcy’s faced with a choice: Go it alone or trust a man she just met—never mind the way his touch gets her heart pounding. The choice seems simple enough until she realizes it’s not just her life at stake—it’s her heart.

WHEN I FIND YOU is a sexy, fast-paced romantic suspense with a fantastic happily ever after. Darcy is a sweet character with a very fierce sense of self-protection. She is placed in a dangerous situation and she isn’t going to let anyone get the better of her. She even hits Walker over the head with a log before she knows that he is there to help her. Walker is used to being in dangerous situations, but he’s never felt about someone he’s protecting like he feels for Darcy. Walker knows that because of his past he’s no good for her, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting her. Darcy doesn’t have experience with men, but she is drawn to Walker in a way she didn’t imagine that she could be drawn to a man – especially when someone is trying to kill her. I loved Darcy and Walker. They fit together perfectly. Darcy is innocent, but she knows what she wants. Walker lets the past get in the way of the present, but Darcy makes him realize that he has to let it go. There is a lot of action that moves the story along and the sexual elements never feel out-of-place for a couple who is hiding from a killer. I love the author’s writing style – funny, sexy, and quick-paced. I can’t wait for more books by Dixie Lee Brown.

About the book:

Bakery owner Elizabeth Hamilton’s quiet life is filled with sweet treats, good friends, and a loving family. But all of that is about to turn sour when an odd sound draws her outside. There’s a man lying unconscious in the street, a car speeding toward him. Without hesitation, she gets the man out of harm’s way before they’re run down.

Unwittingly, Elizabeth has put herself in the path of a serial murderer, and as the only one who can identify the FBI’s Silver Fox Killer, she’s ended up in the hospital with a target on her back.

All that stands between her and death is Special Agent Sam Turner. Against his better judgment, Sam gets emotionally involved, determined to take down the double threat against Elizabeth—an ex desperate to get her back, despite a restraining order, and a psychopath bent on silencing her before she can identify him.

They set a trap to catch the killer—putting Elizabeth in his hands, with Sam desperate to save her. If he’s lucky, he’ll get his man . . . and the girl.

These Hunted books are like reading crack to me, lol. I don’t know exactly what it is about them, but I start reading and I absolutely can’t stop. LUCKY LIKE US starts with the hero and heroine getting hurt and ending up in the ICU. Elizabeth spends most of the first half of the book in the hospital and in and out of consciousness. There is an instant connection between Elizabeth and Sam once she starts to wake up. They connect through their trauma and their attraction to each other. Elizabeth only feels safe when Sam is around and Sam promises to do anything in his power to make sure that she is never hurt again. There is never a calm or dull moment through the book – the action is non-stop. The stakes are high as they search for the Silver Fox Killer and Sam tries to protect the woman he is quickly falling in love with.

Elizabeth is almost too good to be true (and so is Sam). She bakes for the children’s hospital, helps a man she doesn’t know whose hurt in the middle of the street, and puts others before herself over and over. The attraction between the couple starts while she’s recovering from life threatening injuries and he’s recovering from being shot in the back (with his vest on). It’s all way beyond what I think would happen in real life, but I DIDN’T CARE! I loved every moment with Elizabeth and Sam. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series (although I’m a little sad that it isn’t about Sam’s partner, Tyler).

*The eBook version is only $1.99! The first book in the series SAVED BY THE RANCHER features Sam’s identical twin brother, Jack. It isn’t necessary to read it first, but it was just as addictive in my opinion and is also $1.99 for the eBook.*

About the book:

Someone wants Cara Sinclair dead. One minute she’s halfheartedly enjoying an Oregon Coast casino, and the next she’s being chased by hit men. Rescued by a total stranger, Cara must decide whether she can trust her safety to this Joe Reynolds and his team of ruthless mercenaries. The more time she spends with Joe, the more her desire for him grows. But can he truly protect her, or is she placing them all in mortal danger?

Joe agreed to protect Cara as a promise to a dying man. He never expected to feel such heat between them, or her total lack of faith in him. Now he must convince her that her only hope lies with him. Because Joe is starting to realize that he won’t be satisfied with just saving her life . . . now, he wants it all.

ALL OR NOTHING is made up of one action-packed page after another. Cara’s life is crap. Lots of different people want to hurt her and just when she thinks she is safe she finds out someone else is waiting to come after her. I liked Cara a lot. Even though tons of bad stuff is piled on top of her, she comes out of it stronger and willing to go after what she wants. Joe is one sexy mercenary. He sets out to prove that Cara isn’t innocent, but quickly falls under her spell and finds himself protecting her at all costs. I loved the combination of Joe and Cara. She made him seem more human and he allows her to be strong when she needs to be and to fall apart when she has to. Their relationship evolves slowly and Joe lets Cara set the pace. Because of the abuse in her past he doesn’t push her for anything she isn’t willing to give and understands when she has setbacks in her ability to trust him one hundred percent. Once I got to understand the characters this book flew and kept me up way into the night reading. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

9781426894923_p0_v2_s260x420About the book:

Navy SEAL Reid Galvin is back from hell and eager to find comfort in Becca Anderson’s arms. He knows he hurt her when he cut contact during his deployment, so when his call interrupts her date with another man, he has only himself to blame. But he can’t forget what she means to him—or the sexy email she sent him—and he won’t miss this chance to claim her as his own.

It’s been weeks since Becca heard from the man she thought she was involved with. So when Reid wants to take up where they left off as if nothing happened, she refuses. Then he rescues her from a first date gone very wrong, and she realizes she’s not quite ready to let him go.

Reid and Becca have a lot to talk about, but since she’s not listening, he’s going to have to regain her trust another way—by bringing her most erotic fantasies to life. Making her surrender to pleasure just might be his most important mission.

COVERT SEDUCTION is an erotic romantic suspense (is that a genre?). There are hot, hot sex scenes between Reid and Becca and lots of action packed scenes as the bad guys come after Becca. I enjoyed the romance between Reid and Becca. It’s sexy and sweet. However, to me the story felt disjointed. It didn’t move smoothly between the suspense and the romance. At times when the couple was being “romantic” there wasn’t a thought to what was happening around them. Becca is run off the road and almost drowns. Reid takes her home and they have some kinky sex. I couldn’t help but think that it would be hard to turn off my brain and stop wondering who wanted me dead like Becca was able to. The suspense part of the story just seemed to happen. There wasn’t a lead up to it or time for the reader to try to figure out what was happening. All of a sudden the reader is told who the bad guy is and it’s over – Becca’s safe. This story just didn’t really work for me.

About the book:

Zoe Adams has always been content with her quiet nights at home, watching TV alone-until her life turns into a real-life episode of Unsolved Mystery Hunters. The story of a kidnapped girl triggers unexplained memories, and Zoe is dead-set on figuring out why. Her search leads her to one of the Lone Star State’s richest families-and to sexy PI Tyler Lopez.

Tyler has sworn off women, especially redheads with killer curves who poke their noses into his clients’ private lives. Still, he can’t deny the attraction any more than he can deny that some of Zoe’s crazy story makes sense. But when she becomes a hit man’s target, this cold case starts heating up. Suddenly, Tyler will do anything to protect Zoe-even risk his heart.

BLAME IT ON TEXAS is a sweet and sexy contemporary romance. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end. It’s the second book in the Hotter in Texas series, but can be read on its own. Zoe is a fun character. She has come to Texas on what could very well be a wild-goose chase, but she has to find out if her suspicions about her past are true or not. I loved her determination and her desire to find out the truth. She isn’t doing it for financial gain or for any reason other than wanting to know the truth. Tyler isn’t as clear cut a character as Zoe. She’s a what-you-see type of character, but there is a lot underneath the surface when it comes to Tyler. He has endured a rough childhood, being accused and convicted of a crime he didn’t commit, and being left by the woman he loved. He has every reason to not believe or trust Zoe, but for reasons that he can’t explain to himself or his partners he does. I loved their connection and the way he treats her. He doesn’t immediately believe everything she says, but he also doesn’t discount her as a total flake. He knows what it feels like to not be believed and doesn’t want anyone, especially Zoe, to feel that way. As the mystery of Zoe’s past unfolds, Zoe and Tyler get closer and closer. Tyler has to decide if he can trust her enough to believe that she won’t be the one person to let him down. Even though this story seems like it would be more about Zoe, since it is her search for her past, it’s really just as much about Tyler being able to trust again and move on with his life and be happy. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next in the series – I want to find out how Tyler’s partner, the flirty Austin, finally falls in love.

About the book:

Black Knights Inc.—Behind the facade of their tricked–out motorcycle shop is an elite special ops team assigned the jobs too hot for anyone else to handle.

Hold On Tight…

Ex–Marine Nate “Ghost” Weller is an expert at keeping his cool—and his distance—which makes him one hell of a sniper. It’s also how he keeps his feelings for Ali Morgan in check. Sweet, sexy Ali has always revved his engine, but she’s his best friend’s baby sister…and totally off limits.

Rough Road Ahead

Ali’s never seen anything sexier than Nate Weller straddling his custom Harley—or the flash of danger in his eyes when she tells him she’s in trouble. First something happened to her brother, and now she’s become the target of a nasty international organization. With Nate, her life is in the most capable hands possible—but her heart is another story altogether.

I love a good romantic suspense and I love a good best friend’s little sister story. HELL ON WHEELS has both. Nate is a complicated and intriguing character and I loved the way that Ms. Walker patterned his speech (I’m not sure if that’s the right way to say it). His dialogue is unique and fits his demeanor perfectly. He is strong and brave, except when it come to Ali. He isn’t sure how to act around her and it is sweet and sexy. Ali is just as complicated as Nate – even thought she doesn’t seem that way at first glance. She is stands strong even as everything falls down around her. (Except for her weak stomach – which was a vulnerability I loved and can’t remember ever reading in a book before) One of the things I loved most about this book was the romance is subtle. The groundwork was laid before this story begins and they don’t immediately jump into bed on page three. They also aren’t doing it with people shooting at them. Sometimes the amount of sex happening in a RS book doesn’t fit the seriousness of the story, but in HELL ON WHEELS there is a good balance. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to find out what happens to the rest of the Black Knights.

About the book:

Jessica Pennington’s work as an etiquette coach requires her to be polite and proper at all times, especially now that she has a book coming out. The only thing that rattles her reserve is the increasingly violent emails and texts from her persistent stalker. With the book launch in jeopardy, she reluctantly hires a bodyguard.

Noah Samuels hates stuck-up, prim people like Jessica. He’s more the blunt, straightforward type. But to advance up the ranks at McCormack Security, he has to take the high-profile assignment. After a near miss on his first day on the job, Noah realizes that the stalker isn’t just hype cooked up to sell books-the threat is real.

As the stalker escalates from letters to letter bombs, Noah sees a vulnerable side of Jessica that rouses more than just his protective instincts. But can she let down her guard long enough to trust Noah before it’s too late?

I really liked the first book in this series, VIPER’S KISS, so I was excited to read another book about the men of McCormack Security. I wasn’t disappointed. Noah and Jessica seem like complete opposites, but really have much more in common than they know. I loved how they were at odds with each other when they didn’t really need to be. The escalation of the stalker was fantastically done. I figured out the bad guy just before it was revealed, but for most of the book I thought it was another character completely. The romance between Noah and Jessica is fleshed out and has a real feel to it. I loved how they fought their attraction to each other until one day they just had to be together. It was a need instead of a want. The story moves quickly and is written well. The reader is entertained through the entire book.

About the book:

Money, power, and fame can’t make you safe from danger. Sometimes, they’re dangerous in themselves. No one knows that better than Eve Dallas.

Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground – and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, his-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke.

But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to hae a reasonable good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases. Her partner, Peabody, is practically giddy over rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty. Eve, on the other hand, is more likely to roll her eyes than have stars in them. But she has to admit it’s a little spooky seeing the actress playing her, who looks almost like her long-lost twin.

Not as unsettling, though, as seeing K. T. Harris, the actress who plays Peabody – drowned in the lap pool on the roof of the director’s luxury building. Talented but rude, and widely disliked, K. T. had made an embarrassing scene during diner. She clearly liked being the center of attention. Now she’s at the center of a crime scene – and Eve is more than ready to get out of her high heels and strap on her holster, to step into the role she was born to play: cop.

I am a huge Eve and Roarke fangirl. They are one of my favorite literary couples (second to Elizabeth and Darcy). CELEBRITY IN DEATH was just okay for me. I enjoyed reading it, but didn’t love it like I did the previous two books. It seems to cycle that way for me though. I will love two or three books in a row and then the next one falls kinda flat. In NEW YORK TO DALLAS there was so much action and emotion. I felt that was missing in CELEBRITY. In fact, at the end of the book Eve comments about how she managed to solve a murder without getting punched, stabbed, or hit. I missed that sense of danger and time running out that was present in other books. However, I loved that we were back to Dallas and Peabody working together and their sisterly teasing. I also really loved that there were some changes in Eve and Roarke’s relationship after what happened in the previous book. A deeper connection and an understanding of who each other is. I just think the couple gets better and better.

I’m a sucker for a good romantic suspense novel. I will admit that I’m picky though. I want their to be an even amount of romance and suspense. I don’t want one to overshadow the other. Both of these books were just right in the romance v suspense category. This week I’m giving away two sets of DEADLY DANCE and RUN FROM FEAR.

As the intelligence specialist for A-Tac, a black-ops CIA unit masquerading as Ivy League faculty, Hannah Marshall is used to working behind the scenes. But when a brutal murder hits too close to home, Hannah finds herself in the middle of the action, falling in love while racing to outwit a sadistic mastermind.

A KILLER CLOSES IN

After the death of her A-Tac partner. Hannah doubts everything she thought she knew about love and loyalty. When handsome Harrison Blake joins the team, she’s reluctant to trust him – or to act on her intense attraction to him. Then Hannah receives a podcast of a gruesome murder, and the only person who can help her find the killer is Harrison.

Harrison has spent years trying to hunt down the cunning monster who killed his sister. Now investigating with Hannah, he faces a shocking possibility – his sister’s murderer has resurfaced. As the danger escalates, Hannah and Harrison grow close, and the desire simmering between them ignites. After Hannah disappears, Harrison has only one chance to save the woman he loves.

Mini-review: The action is instant. I loved both Harrison and Hannah. They are both intelligent and strong, but also have past issues in their lives that leave them vulnerable. They have amazing chemistry between them and even after they have sex there is a tension between them that is fantastic. The bad guy is terribly evil and leads A-Tac on wild ride before they can stop him. I couldn’t put this book down.

144141158About the book:

With each step she takes. he tracks her every move, waiting for the perfect time. The perfect revenge. Until then, he’ll watch her…

More than anything, Talia Vega wanted to leave behind her harrowing past. Moving eight hundred miles away, she succeeded…until the one man who knows her darkest secrets wanders into the restaurant where she works. Now the agonizing memories come crashing back – along with an undeniable desire for Jack Brooks, the ex-Green Beret who rescued her from a sadistic monster two years ago.

Jack Brooks knows that showing up unannounced is a purely selfish move. Talia doesn’t need his protection anymore, but he can’t get the raven-haired beauty out of his mind. And when a twisted madman is hell-bent on resurrecting her torturous past, Jack vows to do anything to keep her safe – even risk his own life to save the only woman he’s ever loved.

Mini-Review: I really liked both characters, although Talia’s independent nature got on my nerves. At times she wasn’t willing to bend even if it was in her and her sister’s best interest. The mystery behind who is stalking Talia is well done. The reader is kept in the dark and guessing until the end. I enjoyed the previous two books in this series and felt this was a great addition. (Can be read as a stand alone even though it is part of a series – BEG FOR MERCY (#1) and HIDE FROM EVIL (#2))
