Roxann Thorgesson’s world is out of control. After her father suffers a fatal heart attack, she must take over as publisher of Chicago’s second-largest newspaper. Then her ex-boyfriend Michael Taylor, CEO of his own security company, shows up needing a favor. The last thing Roxann needs is Michael around causing trouble—and potential heartbreak—but he’s involved in a scandalous story she can’t pass up.

Twelve years ago, Michael walked out on Roxann without explanation. Now he needs her help. Michael’s estranged wife has been murdered and he is the prime suspect. He offers something no newspaperwoman could refuse: exclusive access to his headline-making murder accusation, in exchange for her help in uncovering the true killer. When their investigation leads them to a city hall conspiracy, both their lives and their newly reignited flame could be permanently extinguished…

The third book in the Private Protectors series goes back to the beginning taking place before the other two books in the series. Micheal and Roxann share a past that was tainted by bad memories. He left her in a way that gave no closure to their relationship and Roxann isn’t sure she can trust him although she does want to help him find the true murderer. I liked Micheal and Roxann in this story (and in the other two). The chemistry between them is great, but I most liked that Roxann demanded an explanation from Micheal about him leaving her before she would go any further with him in the present. She wasn’t going to just forget that he had hurt her the way he did. The suspense of the story is very well plotted out through the book and I was a bit taken back by who the bad guy ended up being. (Which is a very good thing!) If you haven’t read this series, I suggest starting with this book and then going to MAN LAW and A JUST DECEPTION.

Pararescueman Wade Rocha fast ropes from the back of a helicopter into a blizzard to save a climber stranded on an Aleutian Island, but Sunny Foster insist she can take care of herself just fine…

With the snowstorm kicking into overdrive, Sunny and Wade hunker down in a cave and barely resist the urge to keep each other warm…until the discover the frozen remains of a horrific crime…

Unable to trust the shady local police force, Sunny and Wade investigate, while their irresistible passion for each other gets them more and more dangerously entangled…

What a ride! This is a fantastic romantic suspense. I’ve never read a book featuring Pararescuemen and found the whole team fascinating. There is a lot of heat in this book amid the snowy setting. Brick and Sunny are very well matched. They both have great survival instincts and worked as a team rather that the hero leading the way. The mystery is intriguing and the villain sufficiently evil. I think if you are a fan of Suzanne Brockmann this book is a must read!

Librarian Maggie Kincaid yearns for excitement-but being accused of espionage is not what she had in mind. Wanted by the police, the FBI and the criminal element, Maggie goes on the run-and runs straight into sexy Luke Fletcher. Unfortunately, when Luke pulls out the handcuffs, it’s not because he has something kinky in mind…

Security expert Luke is intent on seeing the murderous spy known only as Viper brought to justice. The un-spy-like behavior of his fugitive makes him suspect he’s apprehended the wrong woman. Just as they give in to lust, new evidence convinces Luke that Maggie’s not as innocent as she claims to be.

Devastated by Luke’s inability to trust her, Maggie runs again. She’s determined to clear her name, and if that means tracking down a notorious spy even Interpol can’t seem to locate, then that’s exactly what she’ll do…

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I started it late in the evening and missed most of a night’s sleep finishing it. I couldn’t put my Kindle down! Maggie is a fantastic character and I really liked the choices that she made throughout the story. A couple of times she did something stupid, but it was all because of the drama she was caught up in and the fact that she didn’t know who she could trust. The action is so fast-paced and perfectly timed. One of my favorite parts of this story is the ending. ***Kind of a spoiler*** Maggie, having been through a ton of stuff in such a short period, waits. She waits to know that  what she feels for Luke is real and not a reaction to what they had been through together. This made me so happy. It is unique in a romance novel and is what set the book over the top for me!

Security Consultant Vic Andrews lives by his Man Laws:

Never mess with your best friend’s sister

Never get caught

Never get attached

But he can’t deny his irresistible attraction to Gina Delgado, a young widow with three kids and plenty of strings attached. Even so, having a physical relationship doesn’t mean they’re “in a relationship.”

Gina lost her husband to tragedy; she is not getting emotionally involved with another man in a dangerous profession. Sleeping with Vic is just stress relief.

Until one of Vic’s assignments goes wrong and the target selects Gina and her kids for revenge. There’s nothing Vic won’t do to protect Gina and the children-the family he realizes, too late, he wants. He’ll accomplish his mission but will he have lost his only chance at true love?

After a slow and somewhat awkward beginning, I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved how at the beginning of every chapter there was a “man law” that Vic couldn’t help but break. The chemistry between Vic and Gina is fantastic, and I loved the way he interacted with her children. The suspense is high and the action is very fast paced. The writing is very emotional at times. There is one scene in the book that had me in tears. At other times the writing is very sexy and funny. I can’t wait to get more stories about the guys Vic works with and hopefully a glimpse at Vic and Gina’s happily ever after.

He lurks in the shadows, waiting and watching…

Megan Flynn thought she was falling in love. Cole Williams wasn’t just handsome and passionate, he was one of the good guys. Or so she thought, until he arrested her brother – the only family she has left – for a murder she knows he couldn’t have possibly committed. now, with her heart broken and her brother’s life handing in the balance, Megan will risk everything to prove his innocence. Even if that means throwing herself into the path of a sadistic killer with a hauntingly familiar MO.

Seattle Detective Cole Williams had given up on making Megan see reason where her brother is concerned. But when she insinuates herself into the most shockingly brutal case Cole has ever worked, he can’t stand idly by. Plunged into a secret world where the city’s elite indulge their darkest desires, Cole will do whatever it takes to bring down a madman who has made Megan his most coveted prey.

BEG FOR MERCY is heart-stoppingly fantastic! I really liked this book. Megan and Cole have a tumultuous relationship, but when it comes down to it they are it for each other. I loved Megan’s fight for her brother, Sean. She wouldn’t give up trying to prove his innocence – even though all evidence pointed against him. The suspense is high and the plot is full of twists and turns. I couldn’t put the book down. When reading suspense, I try to read during the day. I have a highly suggestive subconscious and if I’m reading or watching anything suspenseful it finds its way into my dreams. I couldn’t stop reading BEG FOR MERCY and ended up finishing the book at one in the morning. (I watched some cartoons before going to sleep to clear my mind) If you are a fan of romantic suspense this is a must read!

I try not to put stories about my kids on this blog, but this book was the basis for a cute kid story. I was reading and my son, whose 8, asked what the book was about. I was enthralled in the story and just said it was about a serial killer. My son then asked (with a completely straight face) why someone would kill cereal! Ha, Ha!

Burned by a failed marriage, former FBI agent Marc Rossi wants back in the investigation game with no emotional strings attached. Taking an assignment for his enterprising Angelino cousins, he heads to Northern Ireland to pry a key piece of evidence from a missing socialite – any way he can. But when the ice queen turns out to be warm, beautiful, and on a secret mission of her own, the job becomes a passionate reminder of what happens when duty and desire mix. The daughter of an infamous fugitive, Devyn Sterling has survived betrayal only to find that her mother has mysteriously disappeared. When her search uncovers secrets, lies, and threats, Devyn and Marc must trust each other when every instinct says they can’t…and a terrorist wants to make sure they won’t live to try.

Oh, Marc! I loved him in the first book and couldn’t wait for his story. It doesn’t disappoint. Devyn made an appearance in this series first book, and I wasn’t too sure about her being the heroine for Marc. They completely fit each other. Devyn has a lot of baggage, but so does Marc. The action is non-stop and I loved the setting of Northern Ireland. SHIVER OF FEAR is a perfect romantic suspense novel!

She’s a risk-taker playing a deadly role…

He’s a rule-follower fighting to keep her safe…

Together they’re facing a killer who could be anyone, anywhere, anytime…

Private investigator Vivi Angelino loves living life on the edge. But stepping into the shoes of a movie starlet to bait a serial killer isn’t jsut a thrill, it’s a ticket to the big time for her fledgling security firm. As long as a certain risk-averse FBI agent stays out of her way – and out of her fantasies.

Assistant special Agent in Charge Colton Lang isn’t above using his well0worn rulebook to stop Vivi’s latest walk on the wild side. Yet when they learn her client is involved in something far more insidious than bad acting, Vivi and Colt must work together despite the electrifying attraction arcing between them. For each new clue is bringing them closer to a high-profile crime with a dark and deadly truth at its core…and a cold, calculating murderer with nothing left to lose.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I had completely underestimated Vivi as a character. I liked her in the previous two books, but wasn’t sure there was much to discover about her. She was fun loving, spunky, and loved making Agent Lang crazy. Those things were all true, but she was so much more also. I loved her by the end of the story, and Colt as well. FACE OF DANGER takes so many twists and turns, both with the plot and with the characters. Another perfect romantic suspense by Roxanne St. Claire!

Professional mercenary Dare Macintosh lives by one hard and fast rule: ROMANCE business should never be personal. If a cause appeals to him and the price is right, he’ll take the mission he’s offered. But then the lovely Molly Alexander asks him to help her track down the men who’d had her kidnapped—and for the first time, Dare’s tempted to combine work with pleasure.

Fiercely independent, Molly vows to trust no one until she’s uncovered the truth. Could the enemy be her powerful estranged father? The ex-fiancé who still holds a grudge? Or the not-so-shy fan of her bestselling novels? As the danger heats up around them, the only anchor Molly has is Dare himself. But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all.…

WHEN YOU DARE is a sexy, adventurous ride. I really love this book. Dare is the ultimate alpha. He is sexy, strong, and protective. After rescuing a friends sister from human traffickers, Dare also rescues an unconscious woman. I love that his code of honor wouldn’t let him leave her or dump her as soon as he could. He wants to take care of her no matter what even though he didn’t know her. Molly was a little harder  for me to understand. Her strength after being held captive and the fact that she doesn’t break down was a little harder to relate to. I know that I would have been a wreck and I wanted her to show a little more vulnerability. However, the character stays true to her personality through the whole story. She has little cracks in her armor, that  make her seem a little more human. I would have had a harder time if she had turned into a blumbering idiot halfway through the book after being so strong in the beginning. The tension and romance between Dare and Molly is perfect. Their relationship developes at a quick rate, but it doesn’t feel rushed. I loved every word of this book. I can’t wait to read Dare’s friend Trace’s book – TRACE OF FEVER. (I would be reading it now if NetGalley would get their stinking Kindle button fixed, lol)

FBI Special Agent Samantha Kennedy is haunted by memories of the serial killer who abducted her. To keep the darkness at bay, she pretends to be a different, more confident woman. This Samantha doesn’t fear every unknown face. So she throws caution to the wind and shares a night of unbridled passion with a handsome stranger.

One night isn’t enough for successful entrepreneur Max Ridgeway. He wants more of the sexy, smart, mysterious woman who slipped away before dawn. When they meet again, their attraction is undeniable – until his stepbrother goes missing, and Max realizes that Samantha isn’t who she seems. But they must trust each other to trap a ring of bloodthirsty kidnappers before the nightmares that terrorize Sam becomes irrevocably real.

The third book in the SSD series is more character driven than the previous two. I felt like, even though there is a crime being investigated, that DEADLY LIES is mostly about Sam. Sam has to work to overcome the trauma that she faced in DEADLY FEAR and is barely holding on when DEADLY LIES begins. After the previous two book featuring the highly capable members of the SSD and Sam being a secondary character, I was very glad that we got her story. Max is a very complicated character and at times I felt he was a little too much for Sam, but in the end I was sure that they were right for each other. DEADLY LIES is full of twists, turns, and lies…a perfect romantic suspense.

Six months after her lover died in an arsonist’s blaze, firefighter Lora Spade call sin the FBI’s elite Serial Services Division to track the elusive killer. When Special Agent Kenton Lake is lured into a violent inferno, Lora pulls him to safety and is stunned – not by the fire, but by her own searing attraction to Kent. For the first time in months, she longs for something other than vengeance.

Kenton’s interest in Lora should be purely professional. But one fleeting kiss and he can’t get her out of his mind. Her combination of strength and vulnerability makes him want to protect her, and that means solving this case – and fast. for even the passion igniting between them can’t hide a terrifying truth: Lora is the next target in a murderer’s sadistic, fiery game.

This is the second book in the SSD series by Cynthia Eden. I really enjoyed DEADLY HEAT. The suspense is great and done in a way that keeps the reader interested. The plot is simple and there aren’t many twists and turns to take away from the story. Kenton Lake and Lora Spade are very complimentary characters. They are both tough and stubborn, but with a more sensitive side that they don’t show many people. This couple fits almost from the first page. I really enjoyed the way their relationship developed amid all of the chaos caused by the series arsonist. The book is perfect for any fan of romantic suspense where the romance plays a very large part of the story.

When Samantha Fairchild witnesses the murder of a local Boston celebrity journalist, the Harvard-bound law student becomes the next target of a professional assassin. Desperate for protection the authorities won’t provide, Sam seeks help from Vivi Angelino, an investigative reporter who recruits her brother Zach to protect Samantha. A Special Forces vet with the scars to prove he’s both courageous and flawed, Zach takes the job, despite the fact that he and Sam once shared a passionate interlude that ended when he left for war and disappeared from her life. Now, as they try to crack a conspiracy that leads to the city’s darkest corners, Sam and Zach must face their fear, desires, and doubts, before a hired killer gets a second shot…

EDGE OF SIGHT is a perfect romantic suspense. From the first pages I was hooked and literally couldn’t put the book down. I stayed up past 3am just to finish the book! Sam and Zach are fantastic characters. Zach is a veteran who was injured and is still coming to terms with what has happened to him. He is simply amazing. Even though he doesn’t want to help Sam, because he still has feelings for her, he does what he must to keep her save. He is very alpha, but he still lets Sam have her opinions and lets her do things the way she wants to sometimes. Sam is feisty. Due to something that happened in her past, she has trouble trusting her gut. I loved how  Zach helps her grow and learn to trust herself again. In return Sam helps Zach regain something that he lost when he was injured. These two had quite a history and it wasn’t all good. I am a sucker for the rekindled romance plot and loved the way Sam and Zach find each other again. EDGE OF SIGHT is full of suspense and action. There were several scenes where my heart was pounding and I was holding my breath.

One of the things that makes EDGE OF SIGHT so great is the family aspect. I loved all of the Rossi’s, especially Nino. I can’t wait to read more books in the Guardian Angelinos series.
