HER TOUCH IS DEADLY

As the only female Seminus demon ever born, master assassin Sinead Donnelly is used to being treated like an outcast. She spent decades enslaved, and now vows she’ll die before she’ll relinquish her freedom again. The Sin’s innate ability to kill her enemies goes awry: She creates a lethal new werewolf virus that sparks a firestorm of panic and viloence.

HIS HUNGER CAN’T BE DENIED

Half-werewolf, half-vampire Conall Dearghul is charged with bringing in Sin to face punishment for the plague. And she’s no stranger: He’s bound to her by blood, and the one sexual encounter they shared has left him hungering for her raw sensuality. Worse, Sin is the underworld’s most wanted and Con soon learns he’s the only one who can help her… and that saving her life might mean sacrificing his own.

SIN UNDONE is the 5th and final book in the Demonica series. I loved the way this book just tied everything together and introduced a character from Larissa Ione’s next series - Lords of Deliverance. Sin is a very interesting character. She is very tough on the outside, but so lonely and vulnerable on the inside. I was impressed by the way the author was able to make her a bitch, but one that the reader would be rooting for to get that happily ever after. She isn’t as hard as she seems and Con is able to bring out so much in her. Con is interesting in that he seems to be friendly and easy-going, but he really has walls up as high as Sin’s. These two are probably to only people that would ever be able to understand the other and make them truly happy. All of Sin’s brothers and their wifes are present in this book. We get to see that everyone is happy. This was one of the best “end of a series” books that I have read. I can’t wait for the new series to begin!

HIS HEART IS AS WILD AS THE HORSES HE TRAINED…

Nate Shawcross is perfectly content to spend his days training wild horses. So when a beautiful greenhorn unexpectedly shos up for a seminar from the famous “Horse Whisperer” of Wyoming, all Nate wants to do is send her packing…

THE LAST THING SHE EXPECTS IS A LESSON IN ROMANCE…

Graduate student Charlie Banks came to the ranch to learn about horse communications, but when she meets the ruggedly handsome cowboy, she starts to fantastize about another connection entirely…

Nate needs to stay focused if he’s going to save his ranch from foreclosure, but he can’t help being distracted by the brainy and breathtakingly sexy Charlie. Could it be that after all this time Nate has finally found the one woman who can tame his wild heart?

I’m developing quite a soft-spot for the cowboy books. This was a very emotional book to me. A lot of the characters have issues that surround bad/neglectful parents. I loved how each character was handling their stuff differently, but able to help others at the same time. Nate was an interesting character. A true cowboy he didn’t say much and I liked that the story wasn’t so dialogue based. A lot of the story is moved along by internal dialogue and descriptions. The romance was great, although I liked Charlie’s characters growth more than the actual love affair between her and Nate. I can’t wait for more by this author!!

Even though I usually don’t, I’m reading more than one book at a time again. This time it is because I left one at home on accident and had to read something while waiting in the carpool line for a half hour. I will probably finish SIN UNDONE first since I’m the furthest into it and I need to post the review on Friday.

What are you reading today?

Not all marriages last forever…

Suzanne Jefferson is broke, which is why she’s given up charity work for wedding planning. Fortunately, she has a high-profile client - and best of all, he’s paid in advance. There are just two teensy problems: The bride is a bona fide bridezilla, and Suzanne’s ex-husband is the best man. At least she though he was her ex-husband.

…but this one might.

Two years after their marriage fell apart, stock car race driver Ryder Jefferson still can’t stop thinking about Suzanne. Which is why he isn’t too upset that, due to a glitch, the two are still technically married. Now he’s imagining easing Suzanne’s woes by satisfying her needs in the bedroom. After all, that’s the one room they never argued in. Besides, with wedding bells ringing all around them, Ryder is wondering if - even though they’d quit the race a few laps too early - they can still come strong with a big, romantic finish…

I was really looking forward to this book. In the previous Fast Track novels there had been glimpses of Ryder and Suzanne’s relationship, so I excited that they were finally getting their own book. I don’t know if my expectations were to high, but I just didn’t like this book. I felt like none of their problems were resolved at the end of the book. They were happy sleeping together, but anyone who has been in a long term relationship knows that isn’t the key to happiness. I just expected more emotional depth than was in the story. I’m hoping that the next Fast Track novel gets back to where the first two were.

the book girl gives HOT FINISH a 3/5

Instead of just comments on Friday’s post it will be comments for the whole week (Monday-Sunday). I will still post the contest on Friday, but all comments will go into the hat. The more you comment the more chances to win the contest.

This week’s contest is for a copy of Awakened By a Kiss by Lila DiPasqua.

About the book:

Three classic fairy tales - “Sleeping Beauty,” “Puss in Boots,” and “Little Red Riding Hood” - cleverly retold with enough sensual twists to prove that wickedly ever after does exist…

Sleeping Beau: Five years ago, the notorious rake, Adrien d’Aspe, Marquis de Beaulain, was awakened by a sensuous kiss - and experienced a night of raw ecstasy that was branded into his memory. Years later, he spots his mysterious seductress - and this time, he has no intention of letting her go…

Little Red Writing: Nicolas de Savignac, Comte de Lambelle, has been assigned by the King to uncover the secret identity of the author writing scandalous stories about powerful courtiers.
Since time began, the Earth has served as a balance between the world of darkness that is the Abyss, and the paradise known as Eden. Now the battle between good and evil has reached a tipping point, and survival depends on one fallen demon— and the woman he can’t resist…

This book worked for me on some levels and didn’t on others. I loved the main couple. Dax and Eddy were fantastic. From the very beginning they have amazing chemistry and the progression of their relationship (very fast) fit into the story perfectly. Dax only has 7 days on Earth so they don’t have time to be wishy-washy about their feelings. The part that didn’t work for me was the demon’s taking up residence in garden statuary. It was beyond silly and kept pulling me out of the story. Images like the neighbor’s turkey lawn art attacking him just didn’t seem to fit into the story to me. I couldn’t tell if I was supposed to be laughing or not. The rest of the story is serious “we have to save the planet” type action so the two just didn’t fit for me. I am interested to see how the next book in the series plays out though. I want to know what happens to the characters after the end of the story. I’m just hoping for no more possessed lawn decor.

I’m reading two books. CLOSE QUARTERS by Lucy Monroe and HELLFIRE by Kate Douglas. I started one and it wasn’t what I wanted to read right then so I started the other. I have one in the car for when I’m waiting to pick up kids from school and the other on my nightstand.

What are you reading?
